Memorial Day, A Sacred Remembrance

Thanks to both of you for posting those links. Memorial Day is usually sort of like Thanksgiving in my family and Independence Day is celebrated like Christmas. We enjoy both Turkey Day and Christmas, too, and as luck would have it my daughter was born on November 11 - Veterans Day.

We've had so many family members serve and fight for this nation since WW2. We recognize that, without so many sacrifices, we couldn't possibly have Thanksgiving or Christmas (or anything for that matter) as we know it. With my wife's mobilization and deployment less than 4 weeks away, we're celebrating both of our favorite holidays at once this year.

We're taking the party to New Orleans and we'll spend Memorial Day at the WW2 museum. I'm anxious to see how my grandmother does when she enters and takes a step back into the past. She nursed many Soldiers during and after that war and married my grandfather while he was on R&R.

I'm truly thankful for all of you, especially the ones that paid the ultimate price and we'll remember and celebrate their legacy with the most humble and thankful spirit in New Orleans next week.

Until then, I'm going to finish the book I just received from an author that goes by "S.B. Newman"...rumor has it that another one might be on the way, soon. :cool:

That rumor may prove to be correct! Just a few short weeks. I hope to have a hard copy of the final proof to display during the SFA National Convention in Fayetteville this year. I'll only be there for one day, the 12th of June. Until then I hope everybody will have a safe Memorial Day weekend.
