Of all the angles to the whole story I'd give a pass to this angle.

Intel reporting a position inside a country we have "Friendly" relations. I think I'd spend a little time confirming the intel and letting the military get as good a plan as they could together.

I agree with Pete - after years of serious effort to track this guy to his lair, this wasn't the time to get 'buck fever' - if it wasn't particularly time-sensitive, I think the sensitivity of the overall situation warranted a bit of patience on our part - it wasn't as if we weren't still monitoring his activities during that time ( ;) ;) ).

I would milk all the intel off the site until I was sure that there was nothing left,, then whack'm. OBL was not exactly a prime Boss-Man in the AO. His ability to comm & lead was very diminished. SO, spending a couple months gathering what intel was going in or out of his compound was probably worth more, than the whack & ball-spiking BHO wanted..
