One of our pilots at Golden West Airlines, in the '70s, started a "religion" up in Malibu and set himself up as the guru. He did pretty well! ;) He invited flight ops people up to watch him work. While his flock was meditating, he would wink at the company guys. I never got up there, though. He wrote off more than wine. :D
