Beyond my comprehension

I guess this is not the first this has happened, I would have thought that it would only have happened once. There is no excuse for anything of this nature to ever occur. My deepest sympathies go out to the family of SSG Brown.

"Yet another Army spouse learned of her husband’s downrange death through Facebook when a female Soldier in his platoon sent her a message saying there was an emergency and asking the spouse to call her.

“She told me over the phone, right in front of my kids and I completely had a meltdown,” Ariell Taylor-Brown told a Columbus, Ohio NBC affiliate. “She wasn’t supposed to but I guess she took it on her own power to do it.”

Just hours later the notification team came to her Mobile, Ala. door. Her husband, Staff Sgt. Christopher Brown, was deployed out of Fort Carson. He had been downrange a week before his April 3 death. The couple has two small children and Ariell said she is about 11 weeks pregnant with their third."

The female soldier from SSG Brown's unit that called and notified the wife, over the phone, will in all likelihood receive an Article 15 or summary Court Martial for doing it.

There is no excuse for this, my condolences to the family.

Bad deal all the way around.

Prayers out to the family

Concur.

If she wants to announce the news, become a TV anchorwoman.

Concur 100%

Makes me wonder why SHE called. Hope she knew HH6.

God bless and prayers to SSG Brown's family and friends.

Let her become part of a Notification Team or do Casualty Assistance. Just the training for that will rock you back on your heels.
I couldn't do the on-line stuff in one sitting.

TR she probably belongs on "Springer" for this stunt.

Someone failed to follow protocol probably to even enable the FB connection by this juvenile chica.

Over the course of 5 years in various pieces of Afghan hinterlands in various -6 shops, daughter would go "quiet" for awhile like a Sov sub simply because there was a CAS issue and all access to com'l internet was temporarily cutoff - policy. She knows because she was the one to cut it off. Maybe different in different places, just her little piece of picture x5.

I hope there's gonna be some severe redness involved that this Neo-Madcow with the FB account even got out. Which would be entirely proper - she should be AMF'd. Friggin' ditz.
