"Why This Kolaveri Di..."

For the FAOs, bibliophiles, and cultural historians out there...

Why This Kolaveri Di ('Killer Rage' in Tamil) is a rather bizarre, nonsensical sounding "Tamglish" (mixed Tamil and English) creation with an appeal to a younger generation which has made it the hottest song now making the Internet rounds in India...

These are not your father's Tamil Tigers...and listening to it reminds me of the polyglot language heard at the street level of future society in Blade Runner.

And so it goes...

Can these be accurately translated??

or Is this a local teen slang style??

The translation on the videos is hilarious, But I can remember my room mate in Ft Bragg & OCS. Pat was born and raised in New Braunfels Texas.

Each weekend, if we weren't shagging Hollywood jumps at Pope AFB, we would go to the drag races.

Pat spent a lot of time on his 65' Mustang's ingin

I on the other hand worked on my 67' SS-396 Camero's engine...

Sir,this is not a teen slang style. As Richard Sir mentioned the song is Tamilian that is its from the Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. What they have done is that the actor of the movie is singing the song which has mixed meaningless lyrics and they have succeeded in trying out this idea.Over here in India such type of gimmicks are used to promote movies -this is done i.e main star of the movie sings a song or they get a hot chick to dance on some hard rock type of music.

Mainly in this song according to the director he is saying that he is trying to portray the feelings of a guy who has lost in love, the director's explanation of the song is as good a joke as the song itself.

I am very sorry that you had to listen to it.
