Baseball

Epstein to Cubs. Is anyone in here a baseball fan? It's going to be a new era on the north side.

Even as a Yankees fan, I find what is going on up there to be fascinating. First off, it will suck to lose the Red Sox as a true rival if they fall apart. A rivalry with the fan-starved Rays just doesn't seem as worthy. I'm interested to see where Francona lands (supposedly the White Sox), and who the Red sox replace him with (Veritek retires and takes the job?)

The White Sox hired Robin Ventura (terrible move). Sandberg is going to be the Cubs manager. It's all but official. The Red Sox will hire a big name. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to lure La Russa away from St. Louis. Regardless, the Red Sox will be good. Ownership won't let them fail.

Wow I missed that one. My friend at work here just laughed when I said "Robin Ventura to Cubs" outloud. So Francona might not have a place to land for next year. Maybe some broadcasting job somewhere. Torre did that for awhile before returning to managing.

That will be OK with me, as long as they can stop the tradition of failing to capitalize on talent they've developed, only to go on the road and have their ass kicked by the talent that is now biting them in another ballpark.

Cubs-Red Sox is still under the heading of "ultimate World Series" to me but that's a 2.5km target.

And I am a Cubs fan. So I have a little patience...

What, you're saying that trading Josh Hamilton wasn't a good move? Most people forget that we actually had him...for about an hour. Then we traded him for $100,000, which covered about an hour of Soriano's salary. The future is bright.
