A U.S. Special Forces intelligence sergeant assigned to Special Operations Task Force – South scans the area for threats while conducting a security patrol March 9, in Panjwai District, Kandahar province, Afghanistan. The SOTF-South Special Forces team in the area conducts regular patrols in order to bolster security as well as to meet with area villagers to assess development projects.

Well, they wear "throwback" uniforms in the NFL and MLB...why not?

Cool guy helmet version of wearing a ballcap backwards? ;)

Although, I'm not normally one to miss a chance to throw out a good "ding"...

Those "antiquated" uniforms are the uniforms of the afghan SOF, many a team guy have gone back to wearing them in order give the TB a moment of hesitation before he squeezes a trigger.

As for the DUI...I agree it says shoot me first...but then again I often wore a bright yellow Gold's Gym tank top.

Hard to tell...although it does appear the soldier in question is wearing a plate carrier versus normal body armor...not that that means anything either.

The sure indicator in my mind would be the MBITR Radio that is strapped to his belt. Our little buddies don't have those!!!! :D

Bad Beard - must be US.

Most US troops seem to be unable to grow a nature looking beard - I know it is natural but..............

Most US's beard just kinda' look stuck on.

Maybe it's just me.

They look that way because most of us (yes...I'm including myself) just won't leave the things alone...fun with facial hair only comes around every so often...that's why the chain of command is constantly telling people to trim it, no goatees, no handlebar mustaches, etc.

Group Issued Modular Plate Carrier. His gloves and pack are also from Group CIF. As for his choice of uniform, anything BUT ACU's, to include civilian clothes are preferred. The ACU simply does not work in this environment. Monumental waste of money the ACU were. Interesting choice of velcro patch on the back of his ballistic helmet, but it does not appear to be a cross, skull, alcohol related, offensive, or pornographic. Considering the current requirement to wear full patches when in ACU uniform, this is not an OPSEC issue. If a shooter is close enough to see that patch, then he is most likely close enough to see the M4, beard, and oakleys and or round eyes. The new guys rotating in are all in the new Multi Cam, which is the right answer imo.

Not sure really what the fuss is about.

Keep in mind...this was a very long time ago (about 5 years now).

But I wore that yellow tank top on a lot of missions too.

Deadlifting over 4bills and running marathons? Impressive.

Running marathons?.....hahahahaha...surely you have me confused with someone else. No one has ever accused me of running more than I absolutely have to. I never ran from anyone...so why practice? Anyone that knows me is probably laughing their collective butts off over the mental image of me running anything over two miles. It's not pretty.
