Census map

Here is an interesting map by the Census Bureau. It has some inaccuracies because of the way it was developed but I still found it to be interesting at the neighborhood level as well as at the national level.

Funny, in the Redondo, CA, area it shows 75 Whites and 25 Asians living on the King Harbor breakwater! :D Sea gulls are mostly white and I suppose some could have blown in from Asia. ;)

Type in 7528 and the map is pretty accurate for my area of town where it says:

Whites 81%
Blacks 1%
Hispanics 11%
Asian 5%
Other 1%

I'm a green dot just to the West of Hillcrest between Arapaho to the South and Campbell to the North.

Pretty interesting.

Yes, that is what I was referring to.

If you type in zipcode 20015 and go to census tract 15 which is me, you will find that the deer in Rock Creek Park have lots of racial characteristics.

Locally, we have what is referred to as "West of the Park" which translates to "Rich White People" If you run the mouse left and right or east and west you see the racial composition reverse itself on each side of the Park.

It gets cold on that breakwater wall after 6:00 P.M. this time of year. Doesn’t smell so good, either. Lots of >cat-size rats, too. Outstanding sunsets, though.
Could those be people living on boats in the Marina?
This past Census seemed to be all about race.

That could be it. I just checked it again and it now shows one green dot. That plus the two dots on the east side of the marina (where the mailboxes are) could cover the live-aboard population. But, where did the other dots go? Dot flight?

In the "I thought it was only me" category

These maps are great for relating factor A to factor B. Used them a lot in youngest son's college courses.

Other?

Some other race. Includes all other responses not included in the "White", "Black or African American", "American Indian and Alaska Native", "Asian" and "Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander" race categories described above. Respondents providing write-in entries such as multiracial, mixed, interracial, Wesort, or a Hispanic/Latino group (for example, Mexican, Puerto Rican, or Cuban) in the "Some other race" category are included here.

Two or more races. People may have chosen to provide two or more races either by checking two or more race response check boxes, by providing multiple write-in responses, or by some combination of check boxes and write-in responses.

Within an hour‘s drive, we have a couple of compact, high density (i.e. apartment district) Middle Eastern enclaves, complete with attendant mosques.
Entering your zip code and the word ‘mosque’ into the search bar on Google Maps can be educational.
