The US Mens B/B Team...
...took it on the chin from the team from Puerto Rico.
|
According to the announcers, most of the "Super" guys that were on the " Qualifying" team refused to go !!! WE need to change those rules and if you play on the qualifier, YOU GO !!!!
|
Didn't see the game, but I hate the NBA and the attitudes of what I perceive to be 9/10s of the players. I suspect that bad attitudes probably played a major part in the loss.
|
Spoiled wimps. I dodn't watch but I bet they cried the whole time. We shoulda sent the WBA players. They can shoot.
|
Men's basketball team? Watch me not care. I like the Olympics, mind you; it's American professional sports, and the attitudes that they produce, that make me retch. No sympathy.
|
Did you see the post game interview?
Total lack of remorse or acceptance of responsibility by the players. Sort of like the NBA. Wish it was college players only. That would be a much better game. TR |
I held fire on this until now. I HATE watching mens professional basketball any time. I saw it on the Olympics coverage today and thought crap, at least I owe it to the other country to see who's playing the US. It was just before half time and the NBA chumps was getting whupped. I watched the whole game just to enjoy that. What poor attitudes, they are an embarrassment to the Olympics (and whole world) not because they lost a game but because of the attitude shown to the other team and refs. Screw them. What piece of crap prima donnas.

IMHO they have been arrogant a-holes from the first "Dream Team". They always draw the biggest cheers when they lose. There was a myth that they were the best in the world and should be allowed to compete against the pseudo-pro athletes of the Soviet Union. The problem is that when they turn pro they totally forget the concept of basketball as a team sport. They also no longer know how to function without that extra step, or two, or three or more afforded by NBA referees deprnding upon their stature, so they can entertain the crowds with their illegal above the rim antics. At least the Globe Trotters don't pretend to play by official basketball rules.
Today, its not the Soviets beating them but Latino and lessor Europaen teams. |
I am in full aggrement with everyone here...I too hate Basketball and the NBA. Bunch of over priced, crying, spoiled kids.
The 1st "Dream Team" was okay to watch. Once the IOC let pros play in any Olympic event, it was inevitable for that to happen. I'm still steamed that we couldn't even field a frikkin BASEBALL team, for these games. |
That's where I'm a little conflicted. I don't mind pros being in the Olympics... short of drugs, part of the thrill of watching the Olympics is seeing the -best- in the world. Not the second-stringers that couldn't make the NBA.
However, I realize that all their petty antics is gonna necessarily come with that. American pro sports breed crybabies, whiners, and selfish bastards. Maybe my true joy is watching the rich bastards lose to Estonians (or whoever). I want the best of both worlds... I want to see the finest in athletic skill, but I also want to see decent sportsmanship and humility. Reckon you can't have everything. :( |

The college game is good and I prefer it to the NBA. On the other hand there are some good semi-o-pro players out there also. The rules are the rules and we were taking a beating before they were changed. I would like to see a national team like other countries have. This would be a full time job. They could go on world tours like other teams. There are even a few NBA stars who would represent us well -- Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnet come to mind but there are many more. The real high profile pros would have to do it out of love for the game and their country since we could never match their compensation.:lifter

Hey, just write into the contract that the NBA Champs (or the NCAA #1 team) are the U.S. Team and agree to represent the country at all international meets.
Better a team that plays together than this All-Star pick-up team. Maybe some retired players would still like to compete, like MJ or Malone? TR |
When you think about it this team was picked to sell merchandise - Iverson and LeBron James jerseys
It wasn't picked as the best basketball team we could field It's like we picked a bunch of And1 street ball players and sent them out to dunk the world into submission USA Basketball needs to realize that the NBA game while popular, isn't going to win you squat in the world game |
Never been to a NBA game and will never go!
I'm glad they got their "prima dona" asses whipped. I like swimming. That guy "Phelps" from the US swim team is on point, not many people train on XMAS Day!:lifter |
