Recent Grad - OCS vs 18X

To All,

I have recently graduate college with a B.A. in History and am in the process of determining the best possible route I can take to achieve my goals in the US Military. Ultimately, I want to specialize in Human Intelligence operations. I have been a frequent visitor to this and various other special operations forums and have amassed a great deal of knowledge on this subject. Is it possible for me to request a mentor? Right now I am debating over the different enlisted routes I can take, and as of recently, the idea of attending OCS. I would very much appreciate any guidance. Thanks

Two years on this site, a recent college graduate, and this is the best you can come up with for your first post (a thread-starter, at that) on a well-covered topic on this site? Judging from this, I'd recommend OCS! It could be an enlightening experience.

I think it is about time the Admins here set up a "Request a Mentor" thread! It could be like adopting a puppy from the pound. They could post pictures, descriptions, the mentoring they need - and we could take our "pick of the litter"! :D

I love "Get Selected" - but I am beginning to HATE that particular part of it!

Zonie Diver - With all due respect, I have spent hours on this and many other sites and forums. I have spoken with a multitude of recruiters and ROTC instructors. Granted, there is some indecisiveness on my part, but I come here with my head down. I would still appreciate a mentor.

This isn't Mentors R Us. Most of the SF soldiers I know made it without a personal assistant.

We are looking for people who can help themselves by using the resources available. Those who need personal assistance are generally not the ones we are looking for.

If you have a specific question or questions that are not already answered here, and you have searched to verify that, ask your question. With our day jobs, there is not enough time in the day to hand-hold everyone who thinks they "might" want to be SF. The officer or enlisted route has been beaten to death here.

Best of luck.

TR
