Posthumous ARCOM with V device for SFC Jeffrey Rada Morales - 7th SFG

I don't know the details of his actions (other than what is listed here) but someone in his chain of command let him and his family down. A Marine and a Sailor fall on a grenade and get a MOH. Rada charges a machine gun position and gets an ARCOM...

SFC Rada-Morales thank you for your service and RIP.

------
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, June 8, 2010) – The family of Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey M. Rada Morales will receive a posthumous Army Commendation Medal for valor at Headquarters, 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), June 11, 2010 at 10 a.m.

Amanda Rada, wife of the deceased, and his two children will receive the award from Lt. Col. Robert Kirila, commander, 1st Battalion, 7th SFG(A).

The award is for valorous actions that took place June 14, 2008, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. During an engagement with enemy insurgents, Rada charged an insurgent machine gun position under heavy fire. His actions eliminated several insurgents, keeping allied Afghan forces and his fellow Special Forces Soldiers safe.

Two weeks after his valorous actions occurred, Rada and two other detachment members were killed in a vehicle accident in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Interesting that this press release states that Rada-Morales died in a vehicle accident not from combat actions.

Anyone know the true circumstances?

The Marine Corps is famous for not writing up awards for such acts of Valor, Alot of time it is some young Lt. that has to start the paperwork and with Optempo or lack of resources ect ect excuses excuses it doesn't get done. Ashame, families deserve better.

RIP Warrior
