MacGruber - SF, SEAL, and Ranger

And so it goes...

Only one American hero has earned the rank of Green Beret, Navy SEAL and Army Ranger. Just one operative has been awarded 16 purple hearts, 3 Congressional Medals of Honor and 7 presidential medals of bravery. And only one guy is man enough to still sport a mullet.

I watched the preview the other night and it looks like it could be pretty painful - there were some funny moments but it looks like the type of movie where they put every possible funny spot into the preview and the rest of the film is probably pretty bad.

Heh...before I clicked the link, I thought it must be discussion about a poser. I do remember hearing about a guy named Jeff Krause (SP?) who was an SF Soldier, then went to BUD/S and went to Hooah school as a SEAL.

There was an officer (LCDR but can't remember his name) I met while with NAVSPECWARUNITONE in the RPI who had been an SF/Ranger officer and then did an inter-service transfer to the USN to become a SEAL - he was assigned to SEAL Team One at the time I met him. He claimed the food was better in the Navy.

Macgruber looks like it might be worse than Hotshots Part deux but it makes me miss MacGyver. That show was great. Inspired my first Swiss Army knife purchase.

If you're not familar with Saturday Night Live during the last several years you wouldn't get some of the jokes. Macgruber started off as a parody of MacGyver. I don't think a single skit lasted 60 seconds...as he always blew himself, and everyone else, up while trying to figure out how to disable the bomb.

Navy food on a ship was the most vile and disgusting thing I've ever had. Navy food CONUS...not so bad. Personally, I'd prefer Air Force food.

Unless I am in a school there is no way I would eat anything from a DFAC CONUS.

In the hardest, most complicated way possible. AND the easy "even-a-cave-man-could-do-it" solution was right there begging to be applied.

McGruber must be an 18C. :D

My Dad was a WWII pilot and he always advised my brother and I to remember that when the Air Force built a base they needed concrete for the runways. They always had enough left over for a mess hall and NCO and Officer clubs.

No, Your Dad was mistaken.
After building the Mess and the Clubs they usually had concrete left over for runways.

Got to see a free showing of MacGruber last night. I have to say that it was pretty funny. I agree with the comments about the SNL skits. It was significantly better having seen a few of those.

Who knows, I may have enjoyed it more than normal simply because it was free.

Just my $0.02.
