White House caught altering ......
http://biggovernment.com/capitolconf...-million-jobs/
"White House caught altering stimulus baseliine projection by 7 million jobs" Ya' know, if this was a Republican the MSM would think it was news. "......... An inconvenient truth, at least for the Obama Administration, is that once upon a time, in their January 2009 Romer/Bernstein Report they told America that without their stimulus there would be 133.9 million jobs. That’s right, in order to make it look like their stimulus has “created or saved” 2.8 million jobs, the Obama Administration first had to whack 7 million jobs from their previous estimates......" No way they did this. Must be a story that will be proved wrong by snopes |
The jobless rate in the region where I live is about 15% and I've been drawing unemployment for two years. Ain't nothing happening here. :boohoo

Hopefully, some journalists will also look into the president's changing rhetoric on the number of jobs "saved or created" by the stimulus package.
Then again, doing actual research would cut into the fourth estate's tweeting, self-referential blogging, and unrelenting bitching about other bloggers because they aren't journalists. |
I doubt we'll see anything from the media.
Who owns NBC? GE. And MSNBC? Microsoft and NBC. And CBS? Viacom. It is to the corporate parent's benefit to promote an expanding, healthy economy. The converse cannot help the corporate parent's sales or stock price. They have no incentive to tell the truth. Ve Правда, nye Правда. (Old Soviet era joke - in the newspaper named "Truth", there is no truth.) (Apologies if I mangled the Russian. That reaches back to high school days!) |

Don't understand the motivation for their actions.
If someone is unemployed, they know that they are unemployed. This sort of thing will not likely change that particular person's vote. Multiply that particular person by a nice large number. The emperor has no clothes. |
JOBLESS STIMLUS
THERE IS NO STIMULOS FOR THE POOR JOBLESS AND THE MEDIA WON'T CRITICIZE THE EMPEROR. RATHER BE TRIED BY TWELVE THAN CARRIED BY SIX

Is anyone really surprised at this? ...really? |

Among many Americanists, it is generally accepted that FDR and the New Deal did not end the Great Depression. However, FDR's leadership (so goes the argument), kept many from 'jumping the shark' on American democratic capitalism even as the New Deal remained highly controversial, the Great Depression continued, and the clouds of war darkened the world. One of the problems with using a historical interpretation as a template for policy and rhetoric is that politicians, pundits, journalists, and many members of the general public frequently ignore historiographical nuances and historical contingency--to say nothing of unintended consequences. |

A reply for Guy
Unemployment in the Inland Empire area of southern California is currently at about 15%. With the exception of Michigan and maybe a few other areas it's probably one of the highest in the Nation. The home building industry here operates at full speed when the economy is good and doesn't do anything when it's bad. So many people here work in that business that when it slows it creates a ripple effect on evertything else. Several of my friends from High School who are my age and have families lost their homes that they had been paying on for twenty or so years. This is the worst that I can remember it ever being here. Worse than the recession of '83 and worse than the one in '91. I lost my house during the latter. 80% of what I do at work is related to the construction industry and that is why I have been in such dire straits. There is virtually no job hiring going on right now.
I hope I answered your question. The other day I was thinking about trying get a REMF job in either Iraq or Afghansitan. :lifter I've also got my sights set on the possibility of teaching English in China. |

I was in the "commercial" construction field in No. CA. As soon it started taking a nose-dive, I was searching and ready too move to where-ever. :lifter Someone asked me, what about being away from your family and kids? SOBs can't eat and/or survive on hope alone, many of men have migrated even before I, +; the QP background was needed elsewhere.;) Stay safe. |
