The snail mail spammers have found me again. After a brief scan of the new trash mail I found a “Permanent” Opt-Out phone number.

This is an Opt-out for the big credit bureaus that SELL your credit line information to third parties.

Experian Credit Market

All the chatter about stolen identities is finally having an impact on me. While it would be great to get rid of unwanted offers permanently, I don't want give all that information out over the phone.

They already have all that information and are selling it to third parties.

Also, 90+ percent of identity theft is inside jobs. Like someone in AOL credit information selling 30 million credit card numbers to crooks.

Because Tricare's records center was compromised, we put in for a Fraud Alert on our account.

As a side benefit, we got free credit reports from all reporting agencies.

The only downside we have seen (if it is one) is that it is impossible to get "instant credit" like a Target or other charge card on the spot.
