This is my post deployment gift from my Father. He knew I wanted one similar to his 1911, and I have never seen one with the same rail as mine. Anyhow, here it is: Springfield Armory Operator .45
Any info on this type of pistol would be greatly appreciated.
I have fired around 1k rounds through it since last January, and with regular maintenance it seems to be my favorite.

I have been able to take the barrel out of the slide though, that is my major issue

What information are you wanting? I have one just like it save that mine has the shorter light rail whereas yours is full length obviously.

The FLGR is why the barrel is so hard to remove. Switching to a GI guide rod will make that easier. Mine also had a really heavy recoil spring. I had a local 'smith change it out to a lighter one and it rock and rolls now.

Full length Operator, usually came as a custom order from Springfield IIRC. That looks like the "Loaded" model, without the ambi safety. The owners seem to love them, and they have good resale value.

Yeah I guess I don't actually have that exact model. Mine is the TRP Operator.

But yeah, the guide rod comes out after you slide in a piece of wire...I typically used a clipped off piece of paper clip. Works well enough.

I just wanted to basically know if anyone had anything good to say about, which was true. And also, as soon as I checked back to this thread I got the barrel to come out. Going to take it to a shop in NC next weekend and get that spring replaced I believe.

Other than the issue with the barrel, i love the pistol. I used to have a kimber .45 and at one time a colt as well, but still enjoy shooting this one more.

If it is running fine, and you are not going to war with it, why mess around with replacing parts?
