Two Term Limit Option?
I'm pretty sure everyone is aware that IMO term limits for Congresscritters is not something which should be legislated by law - other than that which exists in the Constitution and authorizes the voting public to enforce whenever a legislator has proven themselves to be a self-serving incompetent and/or in violation of the law.
However, as this article shows, a two term limit might prove to be of value for us and our OOC legislators - a term in Congress followed by a term in jail. And so it goes...;) Richard's $.02 :munchin Quote:

I agree, in part, with the idea of term limits. It appears that so many of the politicians stay for too long, and lose track of reality.
However, we enacted term limits in missouri, 8 years for general assembly, 8 years for senate. Sounded good. The reality, however, is that we have traded one bunch of dufus' for another. The original group, while political animals, were at least competent. The present term-limited bunch have absolutely no idea what they are doing. IMHO, 8 years is not long enough to get effective legislation or an effective legislator. 12-15 should be plenty of time for the person to get done what they want done. And, as always, real term limits come by way of the ballot box. |

Illinois has already instituted that policy. IMO You keep reading the NYT's, Newsweek, USAtoday etc and your brain will go flat. No term limits, I think that all America's delusional elderly should be allowed to serve in congress until they die, but what the hell, this is our nation we're talking about. |
