H-161/U headset compatibility

I did a search, couldn't find anything relevant.

BLUF: Would an old H-161 headset work on a SINCGARS?

I'm trying to find a low-cost solution for hands-free operation of our RT-1523s, and found a supplier of the old H-161 headsets used on PRC-25s and 77s. We do road construction and I hate fiddling with the handset on a mission, so I figure I'd try my hand at this. I don't want to drop the $$ to spring for the higher end sets like Peltor, MSA et al.

I'm confident that they will work, since there are the two AUD ports on the radio, yet the headset requires both of its cables hooked up to function with the little switch box that goes between PTT, listen, and "always talk."

Any 18E or anyone run into this?

Thanks

*UPDATE* (sorry for the double-post)

The H-161 headset does in fact work on the RT-1523s. It even feels quite comfortable when worn under the ACH.

The Bose TriPort Tactical Headset is a good idea. It's an NSN item, so you can get them through the supply system. They're part of the current VIC-3 intercom system as well, if you want to upgrade your trucks to that. (With that you can hook up your iPod to play over the intercom, too...)

Plus, unlike with Peltors or the MSA MICH Ranger, you don't have to track serials on them. (Something anyone in the signal corps appreciates :D )
