Fertilizer

4 tons of fertilizer stolen in Frederick
March 2, 2009 - 6:56am

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Frederick police say four tons of fertilizer have been stolen from a farm supply store.

The fertilizer disappeared from the Southern States store in the 500 block of East South Street in Frederick some time Saturday night or early Sunday.

A store representative told police that 2,000 pounds of urea and 6,000 pounds of other fertilizer are missing. The fertilizer was in white 50-pound bags with a company logo.

Lt. Clark Pennington says they don't know what the motive behind the theft is, but they have notified the Maryland Coordination Analysis Center, which alerts all federal agencies of the theft.

Maybe they have a huge turf farm and need it for the lastest snow melt?

Richard 03-02-2009 08:30

Well...it is getting close to spring planting season. :) However, if I were a sitting Congresscritter, I would be afraid...very afraid...of any rented 5 ton box trucks driving around the Capitol area. ;)

Richard's $.02 :munchin

"2,000 pounds of urea and 6,000 pounds of other fertilizer are missing"

I guess it's a farmer or a stupid terrorist.;)

The 2000 pounds of urea is not the problem, its that "6,000 pounds of other fertilizer" that might pose a threat.......

I like how they wrote the article, they specify the "urea" and leave it to the readers imagination what the "other" might be.

Want to bet (what's that guy from "24's" name?) is on the case with about 500 FBI agents........

It must be a new Mexican Yard care company getting ready for the Spring. Go find the barn with a bunch of old beat up Ford trucks with Catholic saints and Virgin Marys in the windows and you might get it back......:D

I think they switched to Chebbies:D.

Perhaps a hedge against rising costs for food. Think of the veggies one could grow. A lovely, lush, lawn ( couln't resist the 3 L's). Finally the perfect rose garden for the wife. A small mix to remove a few stumps. Then just a bit left over to rearrange Mid-town Manhattan, or perhaps selected areas of DC.

Perhaps our Treasury Secretary is running low on ammunition.

Come on now M'am, dont be hatin' on our gawlfers.

Just consider what other sorts of headaches those cats could stir up if they weren't busy out on the links. Granted, the debacle over that deodora cedar tree in downtown SP (complete with candlelight vigil :p ) and the new mini-circle across from the clubhouse on #2 was headaches aplenty for those involved.

Sometimes it's best to let sleeping dogs lie...

AW, helll, no, I am the resident Sh_t stirrer, just ask anyone at Frankie's Southern Grinds.
We have a small group get together in the morning to discuss "matters of concern". It gets pretty heated and funny at times. Most of the crowd is former/retired/reserve/AD military, and a few civilians thrown in to balance it out.

We have discussed the traffic circle situation here in town ad nauseum, I am sick of damn traffic circles, I am now officially surrounded by them.
