That was excellent. I remember reading MSG Benavidez's story, afterwards I remember walking past his uniform in a case, in awe. It was located in the maintenence building which bore his name on Bragg. Still gives me chills just to think about it.

I read about him in the 7th grade. There is an elementary school in Houston named after him.

A Warrior.

The one thing McCains speech missed, that being the deep pride his family and community have as a result of Roy Benevidez.

The man left quite a legacy to say the least.

I was lucky enough to meet Roy in the SOAF at Bragg in 2000 and have him autograph a book for me. A great man.

MSG Benevidez has had his story told in many media formats.
But the YouTuber known as The Fat Electrician has a special knack for this sort of thing.

To this very day I recall standing in the Hall of Honor in the old Infantry Museum on main post , Ft Benning, 1983, as an aspiring 11B Pv1, reading his MOH citation. I was literally in awe, acutely aware that there are real heroes that walk amongst us regular Joe’s ! A Heartfelt salute to you MSG Benevidez, and to all of you who have earned the Green Beret! SALUTE!

I drank beers with him and Kenny McMullin and long long time ago in Panama.

Kenny McMullin was a great to serve with. A wonderful soldier.

He was my neighbor and he talked me into running with him for SFA Ch 7 officers. The stories…
