CU's College Republicans group made the request to bring in the two former Islamic terrorists, Walid Shoebat and Kamal Saleem, at a price tag of $10,000. The university has footed the bill for the 7 p.m. lecture out of the mandatory $670 per student activity fee, of which they say about $20 is used to bring in speakers annually.

Spokesman for CU, Bronson Hilliard, told Boulder's Daily Camera the university does not micromanage the list of guest speakers.

"I don't think these events are beneficiary [sic] for the students we have here," said Sadra Azimi of the Muslim Students Association.

CU student-diversity groups and the Muslim Student Association are calling the event entirely anti-Muslim and are encouraging people to research the speakers.

"It's very similar to what guys like Osama bin Laden do. I think they are doing the same thing," said Azimi. "They're spreading the message of hatred to almost one-fifth of the world's population and I think it's dangerous."

The speakers, who say they are frequently met with heckles and demonstrations, want to give students a different view on the war on terror and the conflicts in the Middle East.

"Patriotism is now an anathema at the university campuses and schools," said Shoebat. "My kids went to school here in America. They're taught anti-America all the time; anti-Americanism all the time; the hatred of this country all the time. And I ask the question, if America is so bad, then why would 150 Muslim student associations establish organizations here?"

Shoebat says he became a part of the Muslim brotherhood in the early 80s and says the Jihad movement is very real.

Officials at CU say, while many of the posters advertising the event have been torn down, the event is sold out.

Saleem, who will join Shoebat for the lecture at the Glen Miller Auditorium on Tuesday, says terrorism is not just the act of blowing up a bomb.

"Terrorism starts politically, financially, then it goes to blowing up themselves," said Saleem. "Terrorism is like a drug addiction."

Azimi says he thinks Shoebat and Saleem are still terrorists.

"I think they're terrorists right now," said Azimi. "A terrorist is someone who spreads terror and fear, and I think they're doing exactly the same thing right now."

The Muslim Students Associations says it doesn't plan protests, but its members will be on hand to ask questions.

I personally would love to attend an event where two people like that get up and speak, it's very educational. I wouldn't mind explaining to them why I want to return the favor!!:cool:

Perhaps they could perform a "homicide bomber" demonstration out on the football field following their speech.....

Walid Shoebat has a website. I can see how a guy like him could really piss off the CAIR people. No wonder they didnt want him to speak.

True that there is a liberal shift on college campuses...but if one looks really closely...the right-thinking, republican-touting, gun-owning teachers are there also.;)

The Collegiate Republicans at CU obviously had an objective in bringing in these "speakers." Was it met?

Walid Shoebat is a former Muslim who converted to Christianity. He is an American citizen and is very patriotic. He also supports Israel.

"Why We Want to Kill You" is his latest book. However, the subtitle is "The Jihadist Mindset and How to Defeat it".

He does speaking engagements etc., to show the real agenda behind the terrorists, and to try to make people understand that we cannot negotiate with them.

He constantly receives death threats from the Muslim's here in America, because he speaks out against the terrorists. His own brother has threatened him.

He spoke out on Zola Levitt's television program awhile back. The link at top leads to the video page. Pan down to the Muslim section, and you will see the episode with his name.

One part of the interview which struck me was when he tells how, growing up in the middle east, he was taught that it is perfectly acceptable to lie to non-Muslims, and that as a result, any treaties we sign with them are useless.

Honestly, as a civilain, I never knew about this aspect of "our enemy" until I joined this board.:confused:But Now...am more informed.
Since the fate of Americans lies within the hands of Our Military, I for one am going to be pushing my Reps HARD for full funding and full co-operation with the command. Can only hope that others do the same.

Sorry if I was unclear. What I found interesting was to hear it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. His firsthand accounts are why CAIR and other apologist groups try to bar him from speaking.

His account of the Arab authorities allowing him to bypass the IDF checkpoint on his suicide mission by going through the Temple Mount was telling.

Yes, the University of Colorado, Boulder, did formally host Ward Churchill. Interestingly enough, my international law professor is his wife. She had Ward come speak to us during the final class of the semester on the topic of indigenous peoples' rights. After class, I sat down and spoke with him. I told him of my plans to tryout for SF upon completion of law school.

Of course, my initial presumption was that he would be totally against the armed forces, especially the tip of the spear. However, he was quite complimentary of the military in that it is a necessity - it seems his issue is not with the fact we have a military but rather with what international policies we use it to implement - he didn't exactly say this, but it is what I gathered from the discussion. It was also interesting to found out that he served in Vietnam. I don't agree with his politics, but from my experience he seems to have good intentions, albeit misunderstood and taken out of context much of the time. But to qualify what I have said - I would need to do much more research on exactly what he has advocated in the past before I made a definitive assertion that he has good intentions - this is just my initial perception; however inaccurate it may be.
Anyway, thought it was interesting that you mentioned him and I just happened to be talking with him a couple weeks ago.

And yeah, we are in agreement on the fruitcakes at "CAIR". That those wackos are allowed to spew their lies, while American military are fighting and dying to protect us from those of their mindset, only makes it clear...

We are the United States of America, and those that mean us harm, no matter what "wolf in sheeps clothing" they might wear, will be found, and brought to whatever justice is deemed appropriate. I.E. Our Soldiers can kick their ass all the way to next year, and twice on Sunday!:D

Would those good intentions include his lying about being Native American in order to manipulate affirmative action hiring procedures, entering a teaching position without the required academic credentials, plagarizing others' work for his books and articles, making up research and falsifying information?
