Green Ramp Tragedy
 

The timing's off, but I wanted to post it before it slips away again into my memory.

A post about Tincture of Benzoine brought back the memory of Doc Sanchez (HHC 2/505, patched a major flat for me) who passed in the accident. Sgt "Mo" Momoa (C 2/505) was a great father with a good smile and easy demeanor. Both were great men and models, and both were greatly missed.

Apparently there were some SF medics present at JM school who renderred aide, and have remained quiet. To them, thank you.

It was a bad day.

Things like this don't require good timing, remembering those that have passed on regardless of peacetime or war is a noble gesture.

I sent my B Team medic from the 7th Group area as soon as we saw the smoke.

He wasn't the only one there that day.

I think that these pics were taken in that same area. I do not remember the name of the Ramp, but in '69-'70 in may not have been "Green".

I was in Robin Sage at the time. I remember the instructors getting everyone together to break the news. We didn't really find out the extent of it until we were finished and back at Bragg. I remember thinking about how many times I had been in the same spot. Every time I look at the newer buildings there, I think about how terrible it must have been to be standing there at that moment. I was thinking about that day as I was waiting to deploy from there for the trip I'm on now. Is there a memorial on the site? I have never seen one.
RIP to those that are gone and prayers to those that bear the scars.

Doc sanchez
 

I knew Doc, Price, and Mo. I was going through MEDLAB when it happened. I was in HHC/2/505 PIR before going to the Q course. I called up my old Sniper partner Jesse and said hey who was at Green ramp? He said B Company. I said B Company who? He said our B Company. That was how I found out.

Jesse was the DACO that day. he said he went to the vending machines by the JM School (where it used to be) and after all was said and done out there he went to get his bag from the DACO desk and there was a hole in the wall and through the chair he would have been sitting in. The next morning I went down and talked to Doc Livingston and that was when I found out who all had died or gotten hurt.

very sad day. Doc had 5 kids and was talking about going back through the
18D course.
