NYC Restaurant Review: Dennis Foy

I just had the distinct pleasure of dining at Dennis Foy, 313 Church Street, NY, NY, 212-625-1007, dennisfoynyc.com. The restaurant recently was named as one of the Best New Restaurants for 2007 (NATIONALLY) by Esquire magazine.

The room is beautiful and the ambience inviting. The food is terrific. I had two specials -- a lobster soup and a lobster entree. The soup was a terrific lobster bisque, very creamy with all of the flavor of the lobster. The entree was a lobster tail on a bed of sauteed spinach and mushrooms, with two lobster claws on the flanks. The key to the dish was a unique sauce made of . . . VANILLA! Seriously, this is an amazing combination and a testament to the ingenuity of the chef. My clients were very happy with their steaks and fish. The wine list is very favorably priced.

By the way, did I mention that the chef is a former SF soldier? With a kid who is active SF in 3rd Group? Check this place out next time you're in town. You won't be sorry. And you Zagat voters, make sure you do the necessary for this wonderful place.

Your entree sounds absolutely fantastic! If I ever make it to NY for any reason I'll be sure to check it out.

I love well prepared sea food and that meal sounds delicious.... If I get to NY I'll check it out.

And I too think that SF soldiers can do just about anything!

Thanks,

Jim
