Things I've learned from this forum

1. If you have to ask, you're not ready, doubt is for the weak.
2. Don't be typical.
3. Don't be predictiable.
4. If you didn't expect it, you weren't prepared.
5. Simplicity is the key.

So there you were, sitting in native garb and sipping tea with the tribal chief. Your team sergeant has just gotten done establishing rapport and there is a great possibility that a strong working relationship will develop from his efforts.
Your team leader is conversing as best he can in the native tongue, makes a couple of mistakes, but the tribal elders are impressed that he has made an attempt to talk with them rather than to them and has done so in their own language. The tribal chief, in good faith, attempts to speak to you in your language and screws it up. You, nodding and holding back your laughter, can't wait to correct the cheif's errors , embarass the hell out of him making him loose face in front of his men, and just set back any possibility of a good working relationship a decade. Nice job! So where do you think you will be working tomorrow? That is if you and your team don't get your asses shot off as you attempt to gracefully leave the tribal compound behind being dragged ignominiously by your team sergeant who has jerked you off your feet when he grabbed you by the scruff of your sorry ass neck. Did you learn something else today?

Situational awareness can be your guide in unfamiliar venues!

Dayumn KG - Next time you set a booby trap, don't bait it with a Rolex. Somebody swapped your moustrap for claymores and COL M detonated on the point man. :p Here's hoping the rest of the column that was waiting with bated breath learned some lessons. Peregrino

Things I've learned in this forum

1: Kyobanim loves stickies. (Just ask Chuck Norris)

2: Team Sergeant can and will put you out on patrol outside of the camp for two weeks. (14 day's is a long patrol)

3: Do NOT start another "Rucking" thread. (Search button even rolls his eyes if you do)

4: UW has an alter ego and it's called FID. (Col. Jack Moroney)

5: NDD wears UDT shorts for morning PT. ('Sup?)

6: Dont mention Blackhawk gear. (Gear for kids and paintballers)

7: RL is now armed with an AR15 and has been trained by Team Sergeant.

8: Snipers do hiccup and there are methods of eliminating this, but it's a "dont ask dont tell policy"

9: The "Popcorn" smiley is actually labeled "Pistachios" and it is on a "need to know basis"

10: Having your "rucksack in the the hall" is easier than you can imagine.
