8 minutes till the first pick.........

Draft day is Christmas for me.

I'll probably watch the whole first round and maybe the second too. Maybe take a 20 min break to go get a bucket of fried chicken.

I am. I can't believe Detroit took another WR. Millen is such a moron.

I am enjoying watching Brady Quinn suffer. LOL

I wonder if all the self promoting over the past couple of weeks is haunting him now......

Joe Thomas had the right idea today

I'm a Dolphins fan, so as baffled as I was by the Ginn pick, I was happy to see them pass on Quinn. That guy is the definition of style over substance.

I can't blame Detroit for taking Calvin Johnson, the guy is ridiculous.

As a 49ers fan, this was a particularly GOOD draft for us... I say 10 & 6 this year.

The 49ers have had a great offseason (they're about to get D-Jack from the Seahawks too). As weak as the NFC is and with Seattle kind of falling apart, SF could make a run if they're defense matures. They're certainly not going to have a problem scoring points.

I think the Raiders, Steelers, Panthers, Cardinals, Vikings, and Broncos also did very well.

Dolfan here, too. I was hoping they'd take Quinn, since he was still available. Trent Green will be the dude, IF they get him. While I'd love to see Culpepper play like he did in 2004, I'm afraid he'll never reach that height again.

As for Ted Ginn, he could very well be another Mark Clayton; additionally, he's the kick return specialist they need, since Wes Welker's departure.

When my son was on the Freshman football team, the varsity coach assigned Juniors and Seniors to them as weight room buddies to teach them the machines and techniques and to mentor them the first year. My son’s buddy just got drafted, third round, by Da Bears! :lifter

I think Patrick Willis was a solid pick for the 49ers. I have met him a few times around campus and at the local watering holes down at Ole Miss. He is a real class act, you wouldn't know that he was the best linebacker in the Nation by his attitude. Just a good guy. 6'1", 235, and 4.37, enough said.

Quinn is 90% sizzle, 10% steak, I think. Kiper kept talking about his 69-11 TD/INT ration his two starting seasons, but alot of those games were against really terrible teams. If you look at the games against elite opponents (USC, OSU, Michigan, and LSU), his TD-to-INT ration was 11-7. Not impressing me...at least not enough for a first round pick.

Yeah, I'm suspicious on Culpepper's knee too. I think that might be one of the reasons Saban left: that he knew that Culpepper's knee is a lost cause.

I don't like the Trent Green idea. There's just not much upside to the guy, at best he's a stop gap before you go to Beck (a great pick by the way). I'd rather invest in Culpepper for another full season...the guy had a couple of MVP caliber seasons, I don't want to give up on him.


I'm of the mind that you don't draft for kick returners. You find them on the roster. As for his receiving skills...I'm not really sold. It may just be because he pales in comparison to Calvin Johnson. I don't know? It seems to me that they could have traded down and gotten a receiver just as good (Bowe or Meachem) later in the round. Who knows...I'm still incensed that they passed on Anquan Boldin for some backup LB a couple years ago.

I think DA BEARS did pretty well in the draft this year. We'll see where they trade now and if its effective. I'm pretty happy with thier first pick overall and hope he gives a bit bigger target to Grossman this year. Looks like they picked up a running back to help out Benson (is Wolfe your sons buddy?), a linbacker in the wake of the Briggs controversy, and strengthened the secondary which at times last year was plauged with injury.

The Carolina Panthers had a tremendous draft. ;)

I heard that Dolphin fans were upset with their draft, but "Sporting News" is giving them an A+ for their Draft grade, what's up?:munchin

RE: Willis. I say his highlights on YouTube. WOW. That "Tackle" (for lack of a better word) he made on LSU's running back was something you typically see in a Hollywood movie. I read the things he did off the field at Ole Miss too, what a heck of a classy guy. I think the 9ers D ought to be something spectacular this year, the free agency moves they made, the draft picks, heck of a talented group!

Offense, I remain skeptical. No other team made moves to get Darrel Jackson from Seattle, so I wonder if he's that good. Vernon Davis had butter hands his first season, we still have holding/false start penalty generator - that - can't -block- a- 5th grader- Kwame Harris. Alex Smith or any QB will never be good trying to pass from underneath a linebacker. Our RB's are still among the best, if we had a better O line, they could really put up some numbers.

No, Mike Okwo. I'm glad he went to a team I like. :D
