Singlepoint M4 sling systems
After much ado and thumb twiddling, I've purchased the Wilderness Singlepoint sling to attach to my M4 via the Knight's QD singlepoint plate. It seems like it will clear my gear better than an issue TAS1 Eagle sling.
What are some of you guys running, if you are running a singlepoint style sling? |
I like this one so far:
http://www.cqbsolutions.com/sop_sling.htm too much movement at the single point... like a teeter-totter into my sack. just could never get comfy with the idea of transitioning quickly. |
QS,
I have a few single point slings - but the best one so far I found was a 5 min project with our unit mat tech. I took a lenght of A7A strapping (green nylon 1.5" strapping) - had him sew a loop on it and added a fastex buckle. Now of course I have about 7 fricking slings that I paid $ for and the simplest solution was free and right in frotn of me everyday. I had a little incident in 93 which made me hate 3 pt slings forever... |
Well, the bloody thing isn't here yet, so I still have no opinion on it. PSYWAR1_0 and I were at Knob Creek a couple of weeks ago, and I Afro-American-Engineered a hunk of tubular webbing out of his gear pile that worked ok just for walking around..but I keep hearing good things about the Wilderness stuff.

Dont get me wrong I really like the Wilderness Single point slings -- I just found I could get it done on the cheap at work with the same quality - plus some custom features.

I've been eyeballing this one:

KAC/CQBsolutions
I am running an HST sling with the KAC QD single point plate and love it. The HST sling comes away easily enough with the buckle but if you want to keep the sling on you can just as easily pop the QD mount on the Knights adaptor. I'm running this on a 10.5" AR and it's a good recipe.
The MOUT looks like a good mod to the HST sling. |
I've been running both the COB Solutions HST and the Wilderness Single Point slings on a Daniel Defense "Burnsed Loop" single point sling mount. I've been very satisfied with with both slings...The CQB is a bit softer, but the Wilderness is more rugged.

Just for the record the KAC Single Point QD is the Shiznit! I got burnt out on single points because of multiple problems, IE Gas Buster Charging Handle and GGG single point plate not working togeter, Single point sling getting caught on charging handle and ensuing recoil almost breaking my nose, crap like that. Im pissed that I didnt get one of these when QS did, but I just had to have the 170 dollar top rail cover (read QD M203 Sight)

Me: "That 203 rail sight is nifty." silence.....60 minutes or so................................................ ........... Psywar: "Wonder what that guy in Ohio gets for an M203?" :D |

OK...the coyote Wilderness sling is here.
MUCH more comfortable than my jury-rigged mess. Far more adjustable and probably more durable as well. The quick release is kind of redundant, I guess, because I'm running it on a Knight's singlepoint plate with a QD sling swivel. Good use of $25. |
For those that are interested in the transition ability of a single-point sling, but don't like the muzzle flop that comes with it, check out militarymoron's 'weapons' webpage. He's worked out a solution that combines a single-point and 3-point into a pretty neat looking package.

Sling question
Gentlemen
As a non-killer pogue that will now be carrying an M4, generally in a civilian vehicle, while driving from base to base, can you recommend one over the other? Ya'll know I'm not high speed, so much of the finer points that you "argue" amongst yourselves would be likely lost on me. I need something that keeps it on me and accessible and allows me to bring it into play should bag things happen. I won't be patrolling the streets, etc. Any advice is very much appreciated. To illustrate how much of a pogue: whats the difference between a single point and a three point sling? |
