Disguises Used in Attack on Troops

This is an extremely significant event. I expect to see more about this in the coming days. This has to be one of the boldest attacks I have heard of in Iraq. It reminds me if the crap that we used to pull when I was OPFOR at JRTC. I didn't expect it to work in the real world.

No POW status

As with not wearing a uniform, wearing the uniform of the enemy allows you to be shot where you stand.

To bad we are not allowed to follow the letter of the law.

Oh, wait, is this a "Law enforcement problem?"

Having worked ACPs and entered many of the gates etc all over Iraq as a PSD...all I can say is somebody didn't follow procedures and get positive ID...there is no excuse in my opinion that this should have happened. I have entered check points HOT after an attack and still POSITIVE ID was required by the lead vehicle with confirmation/ID by the TL of how many vehicles in the movement.

EDIT: On second look at the article, it appears that poor training was provided to the Iraqis manning the gate...US Compound? I need more info now...not enough details to fully assess this.

Hello all

This type of disguise attack has been used here (Israel and surrounds) for sseveral years now, from attacks on army bases, suicide bombers, kidnappers of soldiers etc. They have used IDF uniform and UN marked vehicles.

Don't tell me we're going to wind up with another Korea. Let's make the whole are a free fire zone and let the troops do what they're trained to do.

Inside job?

After my team and I found out about this we have had to rethink alot of our TTP's. What I find odd is that yes they were targeting only US personel no Iraqi KIA/WIA, but I found no mention as to the Iraqi Army outfit helping fight back. Another comment I saw that I thought funny, from another article, is that the Iraqi's thought it was just US on US and to stay out of it. If I am mistaken please let me know.
