The army made a ´mistake´
From http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/01/05....ap/index.html :
´´Army asks dead to sign up for another hitch.´´ I feel bad for the families. |
It's a tragic mistake. I agree that it's bad for the families.
|
Definately gross negligence on G-1's part.
|
"The Army" didn't make a mistake.......some clerk, even could have been a civilian, made a mistake by not cleaning up a database........
It was bad, for the families and for the Army image.......but it wasn't an "Army" mistake...... Jim |

Its a sad mistake, for sure, but to borrow a phrase from a fairly well-read book, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." I know I've made some HUGE mistakes at times in my life, so for this one I'm leaving the rocks on the ground where they belong.

And, not just one ...
I got a phone call late last night from CAO. Apparently, one of our battalion's widows got one of them letters sent to her. I spoke to her and she told me that she has received numerous letters (in few months) from DA asking her husband to "update his officer records", "choose whether he'll choose operations or a functional area" and, apparently some other official correspondence. This one mistake - to my surprise - was not so rare in her specific case. She told me she has not received the particular letter in question - yet. However, I'm supposed to get positive control of it as soon as she does. Crazy world we live in isn't it. "De Oppresso Liber"
