That pilot was not reading the map, just looking cool for the camera.

Notice all of the Bugs on the Windscreen?!?!?! Bet those compressors got a bath that night!!

How did the Army Aviation use peanut shell's ??

Peanut shells were/are not as effective as finely ground Walnut Shells for cleaning the "Gas-path" of Turbine Engines. The shells are induced into the inlet of a Turbine Engine,while it is running, and they "scrub" any buildup from the comppressor blades and guide vanes. This cleaning drastically improves the efficiency and power that the engine can develop.
