So when I have to smash some software developers head into the monitor yet again for violating company standards that I only wound, not kill the poor soul

If they are knowingly violating company standards, then they don't need to be wounded. They need to be unemployed.

Ahh if only that were true

In this case the need to keep systems up and keep customers happy thus keeping the stock price up and bonuses high for the VP level then the rules merely exsist as a guide

Try doing IT for a college. That REALLY sucks.

I once had a lwayer tell me that IT was the most underappreciated, misunderstood department in a company. I'm not sure if I like a lawyer sympathizing with us.... :cool:

I worked for a very small company and IT reported into the CFO. He would call us his "ax muderers" because in his view IT guys are so crazy that we must be killers on the side

So with that logic I can see an lawyer sympathsizing with our plight.....we're potential clients !

LOL. I remember some systems guys at a liberal summer school I attended. I went with a friend to help her fix her computer (:D), and one of the guys started to speak to the other in French. I pretended not to know what they were saying, but when they were working on her computer they were saying things which weren't exactly PC about us...
