British arrests today

There will be nothing profound in this comment - just some thoughts.

It was great to read today that British authorities broke an alleged terrorist cell.

Feelings of relief that they may have prevented many lives being lost .

But there is sadness, as well. Sad that so many of the areas in this world where I have studied, lived, traveled in are not where I would feel comfortable taking my daughter on a trip to celebrate her 18th birthday next month.

I loved Colombia. Will I ever be able to take her there in my lifetime? Same question applies to many other places I lived/studied.

And the greatest irony of all, is that I live less than 10 miles from the homes of the Lackawanna 6,and 26 miles from the Canadian border, and in the midst of many potential targets of rage against America.

The world is such a different place. Will our children ever have the opportunities to see many of the wonderful, beautiful things that we did ?
