Rain..Rain..Go away
Looks like it's Colorado's turn. We've been getting our normal afternoon showers that dump some good rain down, but this stuff has been hanging around for the past several days.
http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_4029325 I wonder if that one guys (from the above article) insurance company will at least pay for a new paint job. |
Colorado's Turn

They were worried they would get burned out a bit earlier this year. Their canyon hasn't burned in years and they have tons of brush all up and down around their property. Only a matter of time. Not if but when. Pete |
It is forcasted to rain all week here:(

Blue skies here, about 80 degrees. SoCal ain't all bad. :D

80 degrees here (and that counts like global warming for us), sun, and a good stiff breeze which is sticking the beaks of mosquitos into the screening of my porch like a dart tourniment. |
It's beautiful here in PA today, but we're forecasted to get scattered thunderstorms all next week. Typical Summer, at least for the past few years.
Last week was our turn in the bucket for rain. Flooding all over the place, some of it really bad. |

I'll bet Evergreen tho. Don't get me wrong, WE NEED THE RAIN. We didn't get our usual Spring soaking. We had Temps in the 90's in May and June and melted all the snow pack in the hills. So we knew it was going to be a dry, hot fire season. Started to look that way a few weeks ago. We were having hot spots starting up all over. But this rain is a God send. Gets the ground nice and moist. We'll just let SoCal, with their 80 plus, sunny weather, have ALL the wildfires this year.....ehh RL ;) Pete, Tell your CinC House to call her brother and move that brush back from their house, now, while it's wet and manageable. Dry leaves, twigs, and pine needles should be back away from houses, at least 25-30 feet for optimum safety. If they have any questions, I'll be more than happy to head up and lend them a hand. |

Thanks for the offer

As I understand it, they live along one of the canyons with just a few families scattered along it. They've cleared their land put the lot is surounded by tall pine trees and lots of underbrush. Plus they have a frame house. Their fear is one of those fires that get out of control and comes roaring up the canyon. One of the earlier fires this year had them getting ready and packing. We talked about it the last time they were out. I told them when they rebuild they need to go stucco with a tile roof. Pete |

This is to appease the Tree Huggers in the PRB (People's Republic of Boulder), in the hopes that the forests will grow right up into their "Secret Lairs". Then when it gets bad enough, a nice 'lil 'ol firestorm will come racing down the hills and burn them ALL. We've got automatic road blocks in place on all major roads in and out of the PRB to block their escape. After they're gone, then we'll invite the loggers in, to work some Virgin Timber. :D |
