To Bling or Not To Bling?

I have noticed several times lately that both O's & E's are only wearing award ribbons and not the BTDT on their pinks & greens. The clip point seems to be the ARCOM or Good Conduct ribbon, although it varies. At first, I thought it was a GO prerogative, but yesterday I spotted the SMA Grinston.

I tried to find a change in AR 600-8-22, but nada

Was there a change?? :munching

PS: It appears that the name tag was also dropped.

Saw a similar conversation not long ago. The new uniform puzzles me but perhaps it was chosen to confuse the historical context?
Guess it depends who you are, one of the Military’s quintessential leaders.

I wonder if some are intentionally trying to contrast themselves with those who are more pretentious about such things. When I was in a galaxy ago the guidance was "you will wear all authorized blah blah."

Collateral thought looking at Murphy's photo; how good a nice fourragere looks with the right uniform/decoration balance. With someone like People's Field Marshal Milley it'd get lost in the background.

You are probably correct. Most of us will recognize Audy Murphy with all his bling, but he also had a slim-jim version.

I wonder if the bling pictures were for the war effort PR and/or Hollywood.

Then there is Bo.. :D

Personally, I like the less is more.. :munchin

At one time I would get a little annoyed by seeing VN ribbons on sailers and flyboys who did nothing more than delivering supplies to the theater. Then the five-sided outhouse declared all who served are VETERANS using a calendar.
