Wining and Dining
I saw you guys talking about a food & beverage forum.
Vote for it or not and offer up potential names. It would probably fit best in the At Ease section. |
Hell yes, we mark our occasions with celebratory foods and drinks. Does this group do it different? Probably. Even the rations you guys pack in the field plays a part in how far you can go per excursion. Food and drink was a continual sub-thread in Major John Plaster's last book.

Since I can now cook to please myself, I am always searching for new recipes and ideas. I know very few drinks - Rum & Coke, White Russian, Frozen Margarita - that I have actually tried. On occasion, I come across a SPAM recipe that I will be happy to share. ;) Wonder if they make drinks with that, too? Hmmmmm.

gourmet guerrilla - 'gūr-may gu'-ri-luh [n] (Old SF) -
Irregular, predominantly indigenous forces devoted to refined sensuous enjoyment (especially good food and drink) conducting military and paramilitary operations in enemy-held or hostile territory. See unconventional dining. TR |
I made it so.
Someone want to write description for the forum? Any ideas? One sentence only. |
What's the difference between a Gourmet Guerrilla and a Guerrilla Gourmet?

The C-4 Diner
The C-4 Diner has a nice ring to it. BTW, just before I retired while stationed in Hawaii I started my next endeavor as a chef apprentice and finally earned my Certified Executive Chef standing. I had to give that up unfortunately around 2015 due to the ticker going bad amongst other things.
But, I still have quite a bookshelf and a lot of recipes floating through the cranium. If anybody needs any answers, curiosity or such give me a shout. Here's something for the rucksack; 1 - packet of coffee creamer * 1 - packet of dehydrated coffee * 1 - packet of sugar * 1 - package of cocoa mix * 4 ounces of unsalted mixed nuts 2 ounces of coconut flakes 4 ounces of raisins 2-4 ounces of dark chocolate (at least 77%) * = mocha mix. Place it all in a zip lock bag. 3 bags per day are good for cold weather burst of energy and heat. Used during a couple of winter exercises, sure lightened the load in the ruck. :) |
