RON STONE - Author - Special Forces FRAUD

MEET RON STONE. AUTHOR, SPECIAL FORCES SOLDIER (NOT) and Distinguished Service Cross Recipient (NOT)
It seems that Ron Stone has been making a bit of money writing books about his service in Viet Nam while claiming to be a former Special Forces soldier, DSC recipient and a laundry list of other qualifications which according to his records obtained under the FOIA prove to be FALSE.
Ron's claims include awards of the Distinguished Service Cross, Soldier's Medal "for Valor", Army Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Expert Marksman's Badge, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Airborne Qualification Wings, and the Good Conduct Medal. As you can see from his records, practically ALL of these are false claims.
Ronnie also claims to be a Life member of the Special Forces Association, yep, you guessed it he is not nor has ever been a member.

Ronnie did serve in the Army (1964-1968), but unless he was TDY to Viet Nam his assignments do not indicate he was ever there. Ronnie claims to have run LRRP missions with the 101st in RVN even displays a 17th "Golden Talon" Airborne Division SSI in his display box? Interesting - because the 17th was inactivated in September 1945 and hasn't been reactivated since.

A friend told me..." It's obvious he was some kind of intercept operator with the 51st SOC (ASA) supporting the 1st SFGA in Oki, but sitting there listening to all that static all day long must've fried his brain and over-stimulated its BS lobe to produce the fertilizer he's been peddling as his "There I was..." story for all these years."

Ronnie has attempted to remove most of his claims from various internet sites to include his Face Book page, but a simple search for his name will still reveal many of his claims on sites like Amazon books and Author's Den....apparently Ronnie was alerted by several individuals that he was under scrutiny after spouting his lies in several FB groups. There is even a FB page dedicated to Ronnie. We were holding back on posting Ron's "outing" pending some other investigations but since the cat is out of the bag now...ENJOY and remember....the first rule in poser busting is to never let them know what's coming until the BIG hammer drops. Too bad Ronnie got a head's up.

Biography

Ron Stone

The author is a retired thirty year veteran of Radio and
TV Broadcast news. Stone and his wife, Selina, reside in Denison,
Texas, fifty miles north of Dallas. In retirement, he finally has
time for those seven grandchildren and another book.

Dennison is a very patriotic-minded community and the home of Dwight Eisenhower. I wonder what they would think of Ron Stone and his self-awarded DSC fairy tale?

Here is a response Stone made to a reviewer questioning his book;

"Frank,...Sorry you didn't like the book, but maybe next time. 'Vietnam Shooter' has just gone over the 1500 mark in sales so thankfully most do not agree with your review.
While I have your attention I thought I would answer some of your questions. I too am a Vietnam Vet, having served 27 months at the Special Forces base in Phu Bai. On my first patrol the radio man was wounded and I took over the PRC-25 radio without any difficulty, even as a PFC. On another mission we were extracted by a Marine helicopter and the door gunner was shot. I unhooked him from the safety-belt and spread him out on the floor of the Huey. I got the bleeding stopped and had a good bandage on him, all the while talking to him so he would not go into shock. We dropped him at the hospital in Da Nang and he survived. For this action I was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Best Wishes,
Ron Stone"

He can't claim "literary license" for this response. We all know his real background.

Phu Bai (FOB 1) was a launch site for SOG recon teams whose dedicated air support during the time Ron claims to have been assigned there used the VNAF's 219th 'Long Ma' (a mythical dragon-horse beast creature seen in their SSI) Helicopter Squadron's H-34 Kingbee helicopters; the USMC were using the CH-34, CH-46, and CH-53 at that time.

Ron has quite the imagination.

Amazon discussion about Ron Stone from Dennison Texas.....
http://www.amazon.com/gp/forum/cd/di...x2RDZEKYYZ92KG

Here are some suggestions for keeping Ron Stone Stolen Valor on the front burner. His Veteran's Tribute brick at the Eisenhower Veterans Monument in Denison lists him as a Sgt., Vietnam Vet, and SF. All of which we know are incorrect. Why not send an email to the person in charge of the monument project? After all, their "form" for buying a brick says " Copy is subject to final approval by the Denison Main Street, Inc. Board of Directors. In some cases, a copy of a veteran's DD-214 may be required." Don Banman (attorney) is the Chairman of the Monument committee donaldbanman@sbcglobal.net . Another option, or perhaps in addition, Donna Dow is Denison TX Main Street Director and is on the committee denisonmainstreet@cityofdenison.com . I'm sure you would all be civil and not make vague unfounded accusations.

PRB 01-14-2015 12:10

Done, emailed both of them

B36reconman 01-15-2015 10:52

Also emailed both...

B36reconman 01-17-2015 08:50

Response from Ms. Dow in Dennison..."Thank you for the information."

Well done......;)

I'm surprised some reality tv show has not picked up on the thousands of veteran frauds out there..... it would make for some very amusing TV.

Patience my Brother ....:lifter

Snaquebite 05-06-2015 05:52

Finally.....KTEN has informed me that Stone has admitted to his false awards but it stops there. Apparently he is still claiming to be prior SF. He has refused an interview but they are going to attempt to contact him again today at his house and go with the story.

Snaquebite 05-14-2015 10:25

The story will air May 20th on KTEN. Now to get Texas to prosecute his sorry ass.

SF_BHT 05-14-2015 12:06

Great work!!!!!

Snaquebite 05-14-2015 12:30

Just spoke with a guy who is close friends with the TX Governor's campaign Mgr. He informed him about Stone and he is passing the info to the Governor and the TX AG. I'm thinking that since the Gov recently signed the new TX Stolen Valor law this might get the recognition it needs...Would be great press for the Gov.

Snaquebite 05-21-2015 06:20

"All I did was lie,” Stone said “And there's no law against lying.” Ooops, In this case there is. It's called the Stolen Valor Act, and when you make claims of the Distinquished Service Cross, CIB and other false military claims for profit you have violated the law and is a Federal Crime. additionally under the new Texas law it is a crime to falsify military records.

Still lying.

"The government would not let me talk about what I did in the service. They stole my military history,” he said.

Ms Salyer did a good job covering all the bases with that report, and getting Jug Burkett (who lives in Plano) to participate was a real smart thing to do - he carries a lot of weight in the 'stolen valor' arena and is a well respected vet and sought after speaker in the Texas veterans community.

Ron's a prime candidate for this award (atchd pic).

I think ol' lyin' @$$ Ronbo is gonna get more attention than he thinks now that he's in the spotlight up there in a community known as the birthplace of one of our greatest generals and presidents, DDE.

Good job nailing this skunk's hide to the outhouse wall for all to see.

Richard
