Thank God! Now all those children in Chicago will be safe once they stop importing all those military weapons! You know, those old Korean Garands and Carbines are devastating the school children of America.....

tonyz 08-29-2013 09:13

Must be to address all those M1 Garands being used in drive bys - or all those gang members running out drafting trusts befo they bust a cap in yo ass.

Benevolence 08-29-2013 09:24

Seems like this targets the CMP specifically without spelling it out. Why would they do that, of all things?

You can't reason with a zealot. It doesn't matter that it will destroy a historically important program or that it won't reduce violent crime. Guns are evil and any thing that you can do to prevent people from owning them outweighs any other considerations.

Like when was the last time a crime was commited with an M1903 Springfield?

Streck-Fu 08-29-2013 09:44

Doesn't this actually help the CMP by restricting imports that other importers could bid on?

I didn't see the CMP exempt from this. Can we trade Dear Leaders with Iraq so I can have a real AK-47.:D

The name of the entity alone is enough.

Civilian Marksmansip Program

Dear Leader can't have civilians being proficient with long range calibers.

Those Secret Service guard dogs are not concerned with a Chicago land handgun.

CMP has at least some inventory to work with. Most do not.

Touche!

tonyz 08-29-2013 13:09

So, under these proposed new regs...you can presumably import and sell to otherwise eligible citizens, Mosin Nagant, Mauser, Enfield...just not Springfield...makes sense.

ddoering 08-29-2013 14:07

Ruling by decree. Seems very imperial to me.

Snaquebite 08-29-2013 14:26

He can do this under provisions of the Patriot Act if his croney lawyers word it correctly.

cbtengr 08-29-2013 16:27

He is throwing his sheeple a bone, pesky Congress he will show them who's boss. It's this BS that drove me to do some shopping that I otherwise would not have done and am glad I did.

Quietus 08-29-2013 19:08

I had one of the Blue Sky Imports M1s from Korea. Gun was good enough, but barrel was like a sewer pipe, and its crown showed a lot of uncontrolled cleaning rod action. Replaced barrel, all was OK. Original barrel is tied to my cot for use as a stretcher lever to set up the cot. It's fate could have been worse, I use other bad surplus rifle barrels for ground rods for electric fences.

This action of today is an out-of-the-blue event. There has been some news for about a year about the State Department holding up a shipment of M1s from Korea and back-and-forth comments about that deal. But to come up with and announce an almost-total ban on import of previously lended US guns, is a bigger thing.

Zero has to appear to be a strong leader to some audience. Too bad for all, that this audience is such a small one. I'll take "petty distractions" for $20, Alex.

I get the sense that concern is low on their list. They are doing stuff because they are being allowed to get away with it.

Maybe he'll take a walk in the rose garden....and change his mind.
