House Votes to Delay Bulk Ammo Purchase by DHS

'Bout time. The DHS ammo buy is just another scandal in a long list. Add Verizon today, too.

http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-actio...urchase-by-dhs

The House late Wednesday voted to stop the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from entering into new contracts to buy millions of rounds of ammunition until the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports to Congress on the need for the ammo, and its cost.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) proposed an amendment to the DHS spending bill for 2014 that would require the report to Congress before it can pursue plans to buy 1.1 billion rounds of ammunition. Meadows said the speed bump is a necessary reaction to news of the huge purchase, which alarmed many Americans and prompted conservative groups to suspect that the government was stocking up on the rounds to fight citizens.

"Given this large purchase, the American people and members of Congress rightfully had concerns and questions,"
Meadows said. "This is a responsible amendment which ensures that Congress and the American people are aware of the necessity and the cost of ammunition prior to entering into new contracts for procurement."

I'm sure they want to figure out why all the 45LC, .22LR, and .410 fodder is needed.

Ask and ye shall receive.....

The Wiki people classified it as "vandalism" and that particular revision only remained up for ~1 hour, December 31, 2012 17:00 to 18:01. Then it was undone.

It was actually difficult to find. There's been over 300 revisions to Dianne Feinstein's Wiki page since December 2012. Why would anyone need 10 revisions per day to their page? That's exactly why Wiki is dangerous as a reputable source. It's full of "revisionists" trying to change history, change facts, or word things in a way that suits them.

Here's the "moron" revision: LINK

And I've attached a partial screen shot.

Sorry, DiFi, you've been punked...with the truth. :D

She's definitely not dumb. She graduated Stanford and writes extremely well. But I would never defend a single action she's done as a politician.

Her problem is that her policies are absolute garbage and she's helping to destroy the country, starting with her state and trying to impose her will on the nation as a whole. Her bills are garbage and solely look to strengthen the banks' hold on average citizens. Not a surprise, since her husband is a multimillionaire investment banker who has personally stolen the livelihood of thousands and thousands of American homeowners.

Naw, I showered this year. Because I don't like Palin you think I support OWS, much less the democratic party? The only democrat in the country in office I would support is Bill Nelson. But he was a dem back when things were a LOT different. He's been a senator before a lick of Spanish was spoken in this great state!

Your Wall Street diatribe was, though eloquent, faintly OWS-esque. You already stated that you didn't vote at all in the Presidential election, and Obama won in a miniscule part due to your non-involvement.

One could extrapolate from that that you are indeed Democrat, or Third Party.

Or simply from South Florida. The sun does funny things to folks down there. Just look at how much trouble they had making holes in paper ballots back in 2000.;)

Rep Mark Meadows is a local here, known him for 20 + years and he knows what the Constitution is...

I really hate to bring this up, but part of the problem is that so many still have faith and belief in the voting system. It gives false hope to a hopeless, and severely corrupt method in this country, and that has been evident many times, over and over. With the tornado of tyranny that is increasing, how can you put any faith in that at all?

Even if the voting system worked with assurances of no cheating ultimately it doesn't matter because we still have the Electoral College. I don't understand why that anachronistic system is still in place. Well I do know why, I just can't believe the public puts up with it.

This may come as a surprise, but some (myself included) prefer the electoral college over some of the alternatives that have been floated in the past, particularly a straight popular vote.

I'm certain your mileage will vary.

Yeah you and Al Gore. If he thinks it's time for the Electoral College to be done away with that's reason enough for me to support it. I am with Paragrouper on this issue.
