Attorney in hijab defends call for other women at 9/11 hearing to wear 'appropriate' clothing

The defense attorney who wore a traditional Islamic outfit during the rowdy arraignment of the accused Sept. 11 terrorists is defending her courtroom appeal that other women in the room wear more "appropriate" clothing to the proceedings -- out of respect for her client's Muslim beliefs.

Cheryl Bormann, counsel for defendant Walid bin Attash, attended the arraignment Saturday dressed in a hijab, apparently because her client insisted on it. She further requested that the court order other women to follow that example so that the defendants do not have to avert their eyes "for fear of committing a sin under their faith."

I completely agree that the defendants should not have to avert their eyes. I fully support throwing a tarp over their heads.

If I were the apposing attorney I would show up in a clown suit.

If I were the judge, I would order all women to wear Hooters uniforms and I would have catered BBQ pork sandwiches. Of course lunch would have to be blessed by a priest and a Rabbi.

The defendants would be my last priority.

Will the defendents be allowed to scold and beat her, if she fails to get them acquitted? How can a real Muslim man be represented by an infidel female?

I know the judge, he is not going to put up with much BS in his court.

I should probably articulate more thoroughly, but I don't quiet think that Ms.Bormann's daring nonsense deserves more than a bag of popcorn and a heartfelt " hooooooly crap..." :munchin

So... we should respect their stone-aged, feeble-willed sense of manhood, and yet they can't show some respect to those in the courtroom? They deserve nothing and yet we give them more consideration than most criminals in a court of law.
