Clooney was put on my do not watch list a long time ago, its a very extensive list. When I tell people that I actually will not watch certain movies because of the politics of who is in them they find that incredulous. I like entertainers who do not feel the need to espouse their politics and beliefs to the rest of the world. Another thing that bothers me is politicians and their spouses who are suddenly such great cheerleaders for the needs and concerns of our military members and their families. I want my POTUS to be one of those guys who visits Walter Reed after hours with no press camera crew in tow.

So...you don't watch John Wayne movies. Too bad. The Quiet Man and Big Jake are two of my favorite movies.

I don't go to the movies very often any more for a number of reasons, but if I do, I try to see movies that I think I'll enjoy. If I don't go to a movie because someone is in it whose politics are disagreeable to me, well... I'll probably never see one. (Tom Selleck doesn't make many movies anymore, and I think the is the only conservative left over there.)

I like Clooney in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "Burn After Reading" - both by the Coen brothers.

That said, there is one person on my list of "Do Not View" due to political reasons - "She Who..."!

Ok I'm busted, I should have qualified my statement by adding entertainers who do not share my political philosophies. Trouble is there are not too many of them. Everyone try to name a well known conservative entertainer. I will start with Patricia Heaton.

Clooney's politics may not agree with mine, but Men Who Stare at Goats was the best documentary I've seen since This is Spinal Tap.:D

There are so few of them that I assumed everyone would recognize the one I named. Anybody..... anybody....?

Gary Sinese is an actor who is also a conservative.

The libs way outnumber the conservatives in Hollyweird anyway.

John Wayne. (I know he was already mentioned, but he deserves double mention).

Not to brag, but I have his autograph ( my dad met him in California when we used to live there).

Heard a story once about him on a film set. Here goes:

So one day one of the stuntmen for The Duke brings his son along with him on the set. The kid is wandering aroind and going up to everyone in turn and asking, "what's your job?"

He finaly gets to The Duke and asks him what his job is, to which The Duke replies, "I just stand in for your dad on the close ups."

Nice. :D

Strange... that was the knock the libs always put on The Duke, back in the day. They never mentioned that Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda, Humphrey Bogart, even their revered Marlon Brando always played themselves, for the most part.

Other than Meryl Streep, name an actor today who disappears into their role.

Jeff Bridges, IMO, does just that in his roles. Actress Linda Hamilton is also selfless on the screen. Kevin Costner?

Kevin Costner? I was amazed at how often his southern accent changed, sometimes within the same scene, in JFK. Now that's talent!!:rolleyes:

My 2 cents on the John Wayne versus Clooney thing is that Clooney tends to weave his inaccurate personal liberal worldview into much of what he does onscreen, especially negative stereotypes of the military.

I don't recall JW doing that as a trend in his career.;)
