Fight Video

Very Violent

Also some language

Smokin Joe 08-10-2004 23:34

Pretty good video.

But even though the fight was only a few seconds long did you see how out of breath both fighters were afterwards?

Also it seemed that the winner had already won before the fight started. i.e. The loser was mentally beat before the fight started.

What do you think NDD?

NousDefionsDoc 08-11-2004 06:22

The winner is named kimbo I think, fairly famous. Got some boxing skills. I agree about the mental aspects.

hoepoe 08-11-2004 07:21

Kimbo had some pretty good moves, but more entertaining than a good fight.

I kept waiting to hear the referee yell Point. I've seen more contact in a sparring match with 12 year olds, although, I wouldn't want to get hit by either one of them.

I concur in a big way!

I don't know about you guys but if I have to fight a dude that big and with obvious boxing skills I ain't fighting fair then again I ani't fighting fair no matter what.

He comes right at the guy leaving his groin wide open. If it were me and I couldn't get out of the fight I am kicking thats dudes nuts right into his throat. Chances are if it got that far I would have a rock or a pipe or a bottle in my hand. But I am sure as shit not going to try and box that dude straight up. Not very smart on that guys part but then again it looks like one of those backyard boxing matches any way.

NousDefionsDoc 08-11-2004 15:47

Its a bare knuckles match, not a street fight. They did it for money.

Exactly.

Mike Tyson could still whip both of them at the same time, and he is smaller than either.

For that matter, Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris could beat them senseless emptyhanded.

The smaller guy lacked balance, good, accurate punches, or a plan.

Once he saw that he could not stand up toe to toe, he should have modified his plan and taken him to the ground, if he had grappling skills and the rules permitted. Otherwise, keep flicking the jab, and keep circling, looking for an opening.

Just my .02.

Just saw this, pretty civilized, definitely not a street fight!

Kimbo is well known indeed

I have seen another video of him where he takes on Rich Gannon, a skilled NHB fighter. Gannon was able to counter Kimbo's street fighting style by taking him to the ground and ended up winning the fight rather easily.

Can you post the video?

Terry

DanUCSB 01-28-2005 18:33

I'm presuming this is the video that Kuri was referring to: Violent, and long

Interesting to compare with the original video: the first, the smaller guy tried to stand toe-to-toe and lost the slugging match; here, the big white guy fought a little smarter. Still got tore up (check out his face at the end), but won.

Also, apparently the white guy is Sean Gannon, a police officer.

Conditioning was a huge factor in the second fight, Kimbo couldn't hang with him, he could barely stand up.

Where do you find these videos?

Terry

Kuri 01-28-2005 21:47

That's the video!

See what happens when a poorly conditioned streetfighter squares up with an experienced NHB guy. DanUCSB, THANKS FOR THE ASSIST!

DanUCSB 01-28-2005 21:55

CPTAUSRET:

I only found it through some considerable use of google-fu. For other fight vids, however, www.subfighter.com has a lot of good ones, but the best ones they require a subscription for.

Kuri: I agree, conditioning was a huge factor. But I attribute equal parts to Gannon refusing to play Kimbo's stand-and-slug game; Gannon knew the particular rules for that fight, and used them to the utmost.

As for Kimbo, well... I wouldn't want to face Kimbo unless I had my Kimber. :lifter

www.subfighter.com

Doesn't work for me, for some reason.

Checked both your link, and my link, both work.... could be something on your end. It's not a super graphics-heavy site, but it's a pretty slick/complicated one.

Dunno. :(

I will try it again.

And this time it opened up.

Kimbo is in some dire need of anaerobic conditioning, IMHO.

elmntskater1588 01-30-2005 15:41

Do you think a Green Beret could take both of them with the stuff you/they learned?

Sure, if you got close enough to suffocate them with it, but I'd soak it in water first to reduce its porosity. Then again, you could put a rock inside it, cinch up the adjustment cord in the sweatband, and beat them with it a la the soap in sock scene in FMJ.

Excellent answer. You could also wrap it around a Claymore and detonate and get good results.

frostfire 01-30-2005 19:46

is it possible Gannon applied a choking technique while he had his arms around Kimbo's neck a few times? I observed he raised his hold on Kimbo neck which put strain on it?

Kimbo's definitely a street fighter, he never complained about rules when he got arms around his neck or knees on his face.

Possible? I would say probable!

Terry

Hooahman 02-04-2005 01:22

Kimbo's biggest problem is he trys to win from pure "BRUTE STRENGTH" He may have won the second fight if he trained more on cardio than his pure knock out power. which IMO is why he lost the second fight.

Definitely. Stumbled across this here today:

http://www.subfighter.com/article1141.html

"According to one of the MMA trainers at the Freestyle Fighting Academy, Kimbo Slice claims that Sean Gannon pressed his thumbs into his adams apple while applying the infamous guillotine choke during their underground bare-knuckle fight.

Kimbo also stated that he temporarily lost consciousness due to the choke.

Slice has been training in MMA at the Freestyle Fighting Academy."

Slice isn't training MMA anymore, but boxing, as he stated in an interview. He want's to become a pro in the heavyweight devision.

I agree. I give Sean tons of credit for sticking it out, even with that baseball attached to his right eye.

Almost started a new thread under this topic, sorry to open up an old can of worms, but I stumbled upon here

They go at it for a while, and if you are patient towards the end they bring it on the beach. :munchin

I'm not sure but I think that's called north shore waterobics. They teach it there at the hotels for the old folk too; not as funny though.
