SF mottos
A friend asked me the other day if we (Special Forces) had sayings that were unique to Special Forces. It made me think, do we have sayings or mottos unique to the SF community? Anyone?
Team Sergeant |
"De Oppresso Liber"
or the ever popular, "Hey, Dude, whazzup?" and "I don't think we are going to do that...Sir." TR |
Quote:
How about "First in last out" "Quiet Professionals" "The Professionals" |
"You don't have to like it...you just have to do it".
"Jesus...Mules don't carry this much shit on their backs". "You only move as fast as the slowest man". One of my Team Sergeants favorites... "GODDAMMIT...Don't tell me how you accomplished the task...just tell me yes or no, it was done". "It ain't over till the fat lady sings". |
I like the always popular:
"Watch THIS shit!" or "I don't care what the manual says" particularly, when combined into "I don't care what the manual says... the minimum safe distance is.... the maximum bursting radius is.... the maximum safe speed is.... the maximum payload is.... the minimum drop altitude is.... the maximum time on the bottom is.... etc., etc., etc. TR |
Sir...and that's usuallly followed by...
Oh shit...get ready...here we go!
|
"Just over the next hill, men!"., says the Lt. as a village church steeple has been off of our left shoulder for the past five hours.
"Anyone who can't tap dance is queer." The SF HYMN: "Him, Him F*** Him" SF Anthem: " We like it here, we like it here, you f***ing A we like it here.":D |
TR how about your demo formulas where P=PLENTY!
While not unique to SF: Winds 3-5, trucks are on the DZ,etc. Jack Moroney |
I coulda sworn I heard one that went something like...
Beer, beer, beer, let it flow like water |
"I know were I'm going, the compass is wrong."
|
Meeting the next Team Leader and at the end of the meeting saying:
I'd call you Sir, but you won't like it. :D |
"The more you carry, the better you live..."
Life on a ruck-team |

Quote:
:p LMAO over that one--how true it is... |
BAse Camp selection: This place sux, let's stay here.
Or when your Lt was lost: No matter where you go, there you are.:D |
Not a motto, but had a license plate once that read:
Special Forces.. Penetrate deeper, last longer, and carry a heavier load. Be Unconventional. Doit different. |
Here's a couple we used on a team.
Smith and Wesson beats four aces.
Nothing is impossable to the man who doesn't have to do it. (The last one applied mostly to SITCA missions. If you've ever planned one you know. Blitz |
We'll never....

How we referred to SICTA- sitting in coffins two abreast.
|
A friend of mine had this on his business card:
IF YOU FIGHT FOR MONEY YOU'RE A MERCENARY IF YOU FIGHT FOR FREE YOU'RE SADISTIC IF YOU FIGHT FOR BOTH YOU'RE SPECIAL FORCES Had another friend who, when he learned the VC had a price on his head had a dashed line tattooed around his neck with "cut along dotted line". Last I saw him he was still intact |
its not a motto but we had a saying "Christ was the first A-Team CDR"
|
A saying
To quote Cpt Baker, TL of 723 7th Group 1977-78 preparing for a trip to Korea. "I just bought a lot of super light weight equipment for the field" then the quote changed slightly, two days into the mountains to, "F*#k this...300lbs of super light shit". at which time he tried to "give" it to team members. Needless to say the young Cpt learned the real meaning of packing light. Blitz
Anyway the motto being "pack light freeze at night". Blitz |
to Pete
What you said certainly accounts for the reason our team had a two year E&E plan. blitz
|
How about-
"Lo que sea, cuando sea, donde sea" "You learn more in the whore bar in 30 minutes than the agency guys have known for the past year" "Whatever the embassy tells you to not eat, eat it. Wherever the embassy tells you not to go, go there. Whenever the embassy tells you a road is closed, drive on it." |
SF Motto
Greetngs,* have been here in a while.* My first thought are the words on our regimental crest, "De Oppreso Liber,"* Free From Oppression. All the rest is hard core BS. In my opinion of course Walt:
|
My old team motto was "Jesteś nigdy sam" in Polish( You're never alone).
Current motto is along the same lines but latin "Nunquam Unus" |
Our motto in 3rd GRP used to be:
"Hard times don't last but hard men do" I heard that an EO complaint forced a change to this. My motto now is: "I'm getting too old for this...... this is going to hurt...AHHHHHHHH!!" |
Red on Yellow – Kill a Fellow
As depicted by the stripes on the old 5th Group flash and the stripes on a Coral snake. |
OLD TEAM MOTTO:
WITHIN CHAOS THERE IS PROFIT! |
1-7 SFG Quiet, Confident, Capable.
USASFT The Professionals SFT36 Let me win your hearts and minds or I'll burn your f**kin' huts down! Richard :p |
"Old" :D (? - 2002/3) C/3/1 Motto:
Ular dengan satu mata (Lit. The snake with one eye) :D |
The old 12th Group motto was "Willing to Pay the Price". It was on our group coins anyway.
In moving off the DZ, my team sgt. would say, "We'll run till we puke, then we'll RON". |
Quote:
:DLMFAO! I wonder how many Malays or Indonesians actually get it:D |
Quote:
|
Team Motto
"Embrace the Suck"
|
Quote:
|
a very wise SF guy once told an eager grasshopper..."Don't ask me how I know...I know"
Then I read Masters of Chaos and found out he wasn't BS'ing. |
"Cast or Tab"
not from experience...yet. |
Quote:
SF Team Moto or SF Unit Moto? |
I knew I would be talking before I had cause, but I've heard it comes from Q school. Meaning it's either going to be IVW or that long tab; "never quit", so to speak.
I'm an 18xray whose done a lot of reading about what's in front of me, don't Know though. Shipping 20080707. |
