Greetings!

Hello all! Thank you for this resource. I have recently enlisted as another 18x and I ship to Fort Benning April 7th. I can't wait, and am already training like mad! Thanks again Gentlemen!:lifter

Hello

I'm a analyst by trade in the Air Force; currently have the added bonus that my office is also on the jet. I found this site while researching firearm information. For the most part I'm a lurker.

Hello

Greetings Brother Paratroopers,

I'm Marcus. Half-Breed Chippewa from Leech Lake Indian Reservation (Northern Minnesota). Served 84-87 in 307th Med (I hear it's called 307th FSB now) and am Freefall Qualified by way of training the 82nd (those who took the same path must know LTC M. Kim and MSG Willie G.). Got loaned out to WAY too many units at Bragg, including 5th (but am not Sierra-Qualified).

Had to get out of the Army due to a "slight issue" with a freefall in 87 that left me in bodycasts and wheelchairs for a year. Went back to college on the Army's $$$ and got 2 degrees, Business Admin and Computers. I've been designing and building computer networks for over a decade now. Tried to go back in last year, but they turned me down upon seeing my x-rays

I make it back to Bragg every so often. Was shocked that Hay Street has been changed into office space now :( Anytime I'm at Bragg, I can be found stuffing my face at either of the Waffle Houses on Yadkin near the mall (are they still across the street from each other? What stupid planning!)

Found this site while looking for my old 1st SGT Jim Erickson. Last I heard, he was at Pre-Scuba in the late 80s. Any info on him would be greatly appreciated and rewarded with lots of beer.

Thanks,

-SGT Marcus

SGT Marcus,

Unless you went through MFF taught by Special Forces Advanced Skills Dept. you are not MFF "Qualified". (If you did attend SF MFF you have a MFF number on your SWC Certificate of Training.) You got a MFF number or are you a just a "skydiver?

I stumbled onto this site from a web search and have found a lot of good info on lineage and past postings of units from the Regiment. I am currently in between 10th Group assignments and looking forward to getting back into the swing. Thanks for putting together a great source of info.

I noticed that my husband spent alot of time on this site and decided to make sure he was not addicted to internet gaming or "dirty stuff" so checked it out myself.

Very interesting, informative and useful. Two thumbs up!

Hubby is in NG (civilian job is Police Officer) and in MOS phase for the Q. So far everything he has told me has been wrong! hahaha The Q grew from a few months here and there to 12 months, to 14 months to almost 18 months. Time to figure this stuff out myself! One thing is certain and that is any long weekends he gets off from the Q it WILL be a weekend that I am scheduled to work!

Although, my guilty pleasure has been reading about all the "posers". Makes me very thankful that I married a real guy even if he is only "Almost Special" at the moment.

;)

Hey Girl, glad you came out of the shadows to say hello! Be safe out there! And good luck to hubby!

Great site, nice job gentlemen! I’m just a simple FA officer who was fortunate enough to spend a year running around Afghanistan with ODAs from 3rd SFG and 7th SFG. I can’t say enough about the good times we had and the things I learned from them. Thanks all!

Assyrian 02-19-2009 13:25

Hello from Afghanistan fellow brothers in arm! Been surfing this site for some time now, and just recently registered for an account. Im a former 82nd (2000-2004). Got out and decided to persue an education. Almost finished my BA, then I got the itch and re-enlisted in the National Guard. What you know I got deployed, and now schools on hold for the time being. Glad to be here with you all.

In the mean time I will continue to up date my introduction and read; not post.

Just reenlisted last Friday. I'll be a 68W assigned to the 1/157 light infantry in the Colorado National Guard. Awaiting reception drill and class dates for WTC and AIT.

2/3 as an 18B & 18F
JRTC as an O/C
1/7 as an 18F
SWC at the NCOA...Instructor for IPB and MDMP (01-05)
3/7 as an 18Z and 1SG
Currently awaiting the ugly move to Taco Tech.

Hi,

A few of you may know me from elsewhere.

I was a prior enlisted Royal Marines officer. Retired in 2006 and now a security consultant. Did all the usual gigs that British troops deployed on since the late 80s, apart from the 1st Gulf War.

Thank you. Thank you for creating this web page. And, thank you for allowing me to participate. I have been perusing the information found here (long before I joined), and I have found most, if not all, of it to be extremely helpful. I would remain silent and just observe quietly, but I have been directed to introduce myself. With that direction in mind, here I go: Admin edit; Team Sergeant

Yes I was trying to be funny...sarcasm doesn't type out as well.

But as far as still being on active duty...there's very few of us left that came in prior to SFAS or right after it was implemented.

Wrong place for all of this.

This is the Intro thread.

TMI.

You might acquaint yourself with the Search button and do some reading on older SFAS candidates.

Not everyone agrees that you need a mentor to succeed. Most of us did not, and we made it.

Best of luck, all.

Greetings Everyone. I'm John, a NG MP recently assigned to an Inf Co. I learned about this site from Lightfighter, and from what I've read on the forums here so far it's another outstanding resource. I have far more I need to learn than I do to share, so forgive me if you don't hear much from me. I appreciate you extending the courtesy of joining to me.

Hello all,
Former Army type here. More currently working as a contractor, but looking to go back into the service as NG. This site seems to be an amazing resource.

VT_MTN_CAV 02-26-2009 11:05

Been lurkin for awhile now. 8 years in the Army, 3 with 82nd( always star-struck by the "SF guys"), 1 with 2ID at Camp Casey Korea, 3 in Germany, 1 in Iraq in '03. 11C. Now a full timer in Vermont Guard as a training NCO in a light CAV trp(mtn). A very close friend of mine from active duty finished 18D course recently and was assigned to 10th group. I found this site from looking up info on that unit. Lots of great info on here. We are deploying later this year and I'm trying to glean as much info as I can on that AO. Doubt I'll ever post but will enjoy reading and learning. I'll be at mtn warfare school this summer and I'm told there will be several QPs there as well. Hope to learn even more then.

edited for content.

Yinzer from Pittsburgh

Howdy everyone

Following the website guidelines, here is a little something about myself:

I am a 23 y.o. college graduate from Pittsburgh, PA. My major was political science and I initially planned on going to pitt law school, but I have a heavy background in the sciences... and due to various recent circumstances I decided that I would rather go to med school. Lacking some of the classes necessary for a med school application, combined with a desire to serve my country, I enlistment in the Army reserves as a 68W (combat medic) with an additional M6 (LPN). I leave for basic training at Fort Benning at the end of April.

Yet, after a lot of research I have also become very interested in SF, in particular the 18D MOS. Interest was sparked mostly because of this website...also because my dad spoke highly of SF (he was an army combat medic during Vietnam). I played Junior A ice hockey and still play rugby, am 'efficient' in spanish and scored an overall score of 93 on my ASVAB, so hopefully that would be advantageous if I were ever to be recruited (and lucky enough to even get half-way through the SF training haha). But in the mean time, thank you all for serving our country to the highest degree, and I wish you all the best. Most people will never know how much they owe you.

Mitch 02-28-2009 01:24

Long Sleep?

Man, where did the last four years go?

I may have introduced myself before - I can't remember?

I spent all but about 5 of my 20 army years on an A-team. That other time, was filled with fun and adventrue of the aviation kind, so that was a good career!

Best place in the world is 9am in the team room, getting that first cup of coffee - damn, I miss that. And when I wasn't in the Teamhouse, I was probably at the Rod & Gun Club - setting up a few for me and the guys.

Mitch
