Built to rehearse the opn and then let the "demo students" blow it up for practice - good thing the IVORY COAST guys only had the Soviet satellites to worry about! ;)

I was thinking something along those same lines. I used to look at WWII pictures of camouflaging facilities and using magicians to create illusions, like making Alexandria harbor move.

It would seem they didn't even try here.

In the first link some of the scene's which are depicting Pakistan look like they have been shot in some Indian city.

I will not be watching "Zero Dark Thirty" given that is made by the director of "Hurt Locker". I was pissed of with Kathryn Bigelow when I read about the SAS part in "Hurt Locker".

Why pissed with the SAS part? Just wondering.

They weren't PMC?

Do agree about the indian city comment...much of the tribal areas/regions are messy, dusty and nothing as what they had potrayed but Abbottabad seems to be a cleaner, quieter city of sorts unlike other regions in Pakistan...but that's just what I have been told.Never been there myself.

Basically the fact that an SAS patrol is saved by EOD guys, it has been discussed in a few posts in this thread:

Forgive me but I don't like it when the SAS or for that matter even USSOCOM(CAG and SF in particular) units are portrayed in this manner.

I just cross checked some sources and yes some parts of the film have been shot in India. The Paki's would go bonkers if this film would have been shot there, most Pakistani citizens are still pissed off about Op. Neptune Spear.

You got the impression the SAS troopers didn't know what to do as one by one their guys went down...and the EOD team "takes over"..they had 2 vehicles..could they not have closed the distance between their location and the building where the snipers were operating from..

anyways...agree with you on this

Shot in Chandigarh in Punjab Province. Don't think the punjabis will be too happy their city is being used to depict a city in Pakistan...though I am sure they will be celebrating with a lot of whiskey that UBL is dead though.

Author wonders why the site wasn't preserved for historical significance. Me too. Add "Osama bi Laden, The Ride!" And we have a tourist attraction Six Flags would be jealous of.
It's interesting to go to Google Maps and look for interesting places. Sometimes they are have become snow covered fields.
