I would like to thank the QP's for running this site and making it available to the public. I have been lurking around here for a while now reading and learning as I train to one day join your ranks. I also found "Get Selected" as a result of this site and it is a great read for anyone preparing for selection without the benefit of an SF mentor.

I am currently serving in 1-21 IN out of Schofield Barracks, HI. I am a 19A in an Infantry battalion which at first I was not thrilled about but shortly after moving to the unit I quickly realized what a great opportunity it was for my development. I was afforded the opportunity to attend both Ranger and IMLC, which I may have not been able to attend had I been assigned to an Armor unit. I served as a Mobile Gun System Platoon Leader for 15 months and BN Mortar Platoon Leader for 21 months (12 in Iraq).

I will be attending SFAS starting 20JAN09 to start my journey toward becoming a QP.

Hammock 12-15-2008 10:47

I am non-prior service preparing to interview with the 3/20th as soon as MEPS gives me a date for and I pass the medical evaluation. I would like to thank my SF recruiter, SFC B. Merrill, for all of his help so far.

Hello my name is Kenny I am a former Marine working on an 18x contract thank you for a place to ask questions and research the SF life style and community.

Vanrickleyracin 12-15-2008 14:41

Hello

Hello,

I am a Team Mate who has spent time in B/3/1 for 3 years, then PCS'd to Okinawa B/1/1 for 2 years then C/1/1 for the last 2, Oki was the best 4 years of my carreer time in Asia and Centcom I learned a lot about FID, UW, and DA/FID as pertained to two different parts of the world. I have been in the OPS DET Back in Lewis for the last 14 months, recovering from a little accident in Iraq, DOC say I am healthy and I have never felt any better. I am a proud husband, father, and brother of a fiercely patriotic family, my wife is my biggest supporter, then my son and daughter want to join the army next year and the year after, last but not least my brother is a Team Mate in 2nd BN 5th SFG and my Uncle is a retired SGM out of 7th. I love my job and have had plenty of chances and offers to get out and make ridiculous amounts of money, but I love working and hanging around Army USSF dudes in particular, we are different then any other breed of man, anyways I didn't join this outfit for the money in the fist place. I joined to be challenged, to work around hard working knuckle draggers, to be in an enviornment where you better come to work wearing your thick skinned T-shirt to work or don't come at all, and you better be able to have a crafty comeback within 5 seconds or don't even comeback at all.

Scratty314 12-15-2008 18:00

Hi

Hi, my name is Garry. I am 17 years old and still go to high school. I plan on going into the Army as soon as my ear tube falls out and I can get my physical. I love science and want to do something that is challenging mentally and physically. I have grown up listening to my dad talk about his time in the Air Force in the Security Forces. I have learned, from my father, that I can do anything I put my mind to and only I am there to help me fulfill my dreams. A lot of my inspiration comes from the book Flying Through Midnight by John T. Halliday. What draws me to the book is that it teaches people to think outside of the box and that sometimes the rules will get you killed. I always knew I would join the Army ever since I was very little and I know I will not regret ever going in the military.

This isnt Myspace, Yahoo, MSN, or AOL's IM server; do not post like it is. While we are far from the grammar police, your post is atrocious.

It would appear you have stepped on your crank once already dont make it a habit.

Welcome to PS.com.

introduction

I recently completed basic training and I am about to begin the accelerated state officer candidate school program as a memeber of the Texas Army National Guard. I have a goal of becoming an 18A once I meet the eligibilty requirements and have gained experience. Until then, one step at a time and learning as much as possible. I have already gained a considerable amount of information - thanks for making this information available to the rest of us - priceless!

Hi, my names Jeff and I have been a medic in the national guard for almost 6 years now. I'm looking forward to trying out for 20th group on my return from A-stan. I have found myself on this website every chance I've had. Every question that has come to mind, has been found on this website. Thanks guys.

My intro

Hello, my name is Joshua. I'm a prior-service veteran interested in trying out for SF. I stumbled across this website and decided to give it a try. I'm on here to gain information about the REC program and what to expect when I enlist. I was an 11c in my two prior enlistments. I served with the 10th Mtn and the 82nd Abn. My original goal when I first enlisted was to become SF. Unfortunetly life doesn't always go as planned. However, it's never to late to start again and I'm here to fulfill that dream.

Bloodgiver82 12-17-2008 01:35

Good Evening Gentlemen,

There is no individual on the planet who I respect more than a QP. For eight years now (the whole of my military career) I have lusted over the idea of becoming a member of our Nation's Chosen Soldiery. Up to this point however, my family obligations (wife and three young boys) have been too great to begin such an ascent....

Now I stand at the cusp of an opportunity. I am in the best physical, mental and emotional shape of my life and my wife has given a hesitant, but affirming go-ahead nod. Yet I debate... Am I selfish to consider asking my wife and children to make such a great sacrifice so that I can pursue personal (as well as professional) achievements.?.

Thank you Gentlemen for allowing me access to your forum. Already I have found it to be a vast resource and have spent much time here reading and learning.

Most Sincerely,

JE

Welcome sturg abd bloodgiver!

Blitzzz (RIP) 12-17-2008 07:11

Be sure Bloodgiver.

Be really sure, it is enough to endure all that is required for this life style without family conflicts. Though we all have had some. My present wife of 30 years knew me and what I was before we were Married, and she has always been a major supporter of my career.
Make sure the family will be proud of the fact that you are a soldier in the Apex warrior role. Make them proud to be a part of you and keep the wife informed, most time it decreases her worry and anxiety. WELCOME, Blitzzz

Groundpounder 12-17-2008 09:06

Greetings, everyone. Just a quick little intro for you. I'm coming up on the end of my first enlistment of 6 years now with the NG. I've been an 11B for that entire time. I've been through one deployment in the 'Stan during OEF VII. I was prepared to submit my packet for selection and meet with the CO and 1SG of the Group I'm looking to join, but then I caught wind of another upcoming deployment soon. So I'll fulfill what I feel to be obligations to my boys first, so they aren't stuck with someone who hasn't deployed who thinks they're the know-all, God's greatest gift to the Infantry.

Upon returning, I'll be submitting my packet at that time. Plus it's a chance to get into even greater shape. Can never be too prepared for that, I feel. I tend to read a lot, post very little, so if anyone wants to know more about me or what-not, I can be reached at a private post or through my AKO. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to learn and be prepared for when I do take the first step.

Lowlight7 12-17-2008 11:21

Good afternoon, gentlemen:

I'm Sean. Registered since August but I'm a lurker so I haven't posted my intro. Anyway, former USAF Security Forces, former USAF SERE Specialist. Currently working as an instructor for an East coast security and EP firm, although I do get out and teach survival and wilderness medicine on the side.

I haven't seen much on this board I'm qualified to comment on, but I'm posting my intro so I can post on the water purification thread. After that I'll fade back into obscurity again, most likely.

I'm aware that I haven't filled out my profile, I'll attend to that soon.

Take it easy, gentlemen.

Old Guy 12-17-2008 21:24

Bloodgiver-
In my opinion which is based on 1 trial marriage that failed and another that is at 16 and holding (most in SF), the career can accelerate the failure of a weak marraige. A strong marriage is not destroyed but made stronger. You have but one life to live. Love your babies and your country, you wife will understand.

God bless, safe landings, good teammates!

Hello gents,
As per forum rules I am posting my introduction thread before I start posting. I filled out my bio also. I've been in the army for a few years now. Started off in regular army, then regiment for a short stint and now i've been on 713 for a few years. Anyone on here in 1/7 should be able to verify.

Howdy from Texas

Thank you for letting me into ya'lls house; I'll try not to over indulge and puke on the floor to often.

I am an Army vet, been out for 10 years, served close to 20 in various AD/NG/Reserves. I Had the pleasure of working along side several SF Officers and NCO's in numerous assignments. Worked closely with the 10th (a few were assigned to us) while at Ft Devens HQ DPTSEC in 81-82. Met some 10th guys again at SFOR in Sarajevo in '98.

This is a most hooah website. I've been snooping around your forum; many interesting subjects and characters hanging out here. Hope to make some intelligent contributions in the future.

To all you veterans and retirees, thank you for your service to the nation and to those of you still serving in undisclosed locations; keep your heads down and aim center of mass.

Hello to All

Hello Everyone,

My name is John. I'm currently a full time pre-med student, but am very interested in joining the military after college, before med school or as a career in place of a medical career. The information on this site is amazing and is truly a great resource. I will definitely be reading quite a bit more than posting. Thanks for letting me lurk through your postings!

Regards,
John

Re-Introducing myself

Good evening all QP's and board members,

It has been awhile since I have been an active member on the Professional Soldiers board, and have found myself back here to find some answers to some questions. The search function will be my AO during my time here. Thank you for being here for all of us.

Honor2Serve 12-21-2008 22:18

Gentlemen,

My name is Aaron, I am a PS Marine getting ready to come back to the military after 10 years. Looking at a 35W position to get some language training and other deployable skills before I see if I have what it takes to fill the large shoes(boots) of a SOF team member.

EbnHawkSerenity 12-22-2008 00:35

Hi Quiet Professionals as well as other board members,

My name is Ian. I am a college student that has enlisted and is scheduled to begin life in the Army as a 68W next summer upon graduation. I am here to gather more information about attempting to join the ranks of the Quiet Professionals- being able to achieve this would bring me no greater honor.

Thank you to all current and former members of the military on these boards for your service. A special thank you to all of the Quiet Professionals that have devoted much of their time and shared much of their vast knowledge on these forums with many aspiring soldiers.

EbonyDragon 12-22-2008 14:21

Hello,

My name is Jeff, and I am currently an 18x contract waiting to ship to Ft Benning to begin my path towards SF. I decided I wanted to do something with my life that I could be proud of, something that I felt like I was making a difference, and I wasn't getting that in the civilian world.

I also was overweight, out of shape, and spent most of my time on a computer.

I did research, months of it, and decided that after years of considering it, to get off my ass and do it. I might not be in the best physical shape of my life yet (although I am working on it), but I do have that drive. I am 100% committed to "tab or cast".

I was fortunate when I began to work out to meet a 25 year SF soldier at the gym, and have been working with him for a few months now. He has definitely been an inspiration, and a mentor to me in regards to the SF world.

See some of you at selection in several months!

- Jeff

itek01i 12-22-2008 17:49

Good Evening

I am a 74D that is preparing to ETS after 8 years of Active Duty. I joined this site to find more information on 19th and 20th Groups in hopes of joining a unit in a support role.

I have been to selection before, the winter of 2004, however I did not complete the Star Course. I had intended to go back through but between deployments and trying to get a degree I never completed my goal.
I fully intend to go back through the Q-Course upon completion of my bachelors.

Thank you for sharing access to your site.

LoneStar 12-22-2008 18:42

First and foremost I apologize, this isn't my first post. While I realize I can't get another first post, if there's just one thing I've learned in the Army its that if you make a mistake man up to it, fix it and learn from it if possible, then drive on without making the same mistake again.

As for the introduction, I'm a 25B, stationed in Germany with the 173rd ABCT. Got back from Afghanistan relatively recently, that was my first time, and I'm sure it won't be my last. I've been in almost 3 years, so I'm still new to Army, but enjoy what I do.

I really enjoy this site, and have found more information here about SF than in just about any other site, or really anywhere around. I hope to be able to contribute in some way. For the most part I'm really looking to be able to soak up some of information and knowledge it seems the individuals on this board posses.

If there are any questions of me, all you have to do is ask.
