Introduction

Hello all. This is my first post. I've stayed out of the loop for a long time but decided to get back in touch after Col. Moroney's death. I spent 10 years in 10th Group. B/2/10 from 78 to 82 and then C/1/10 & B/1/10 from 82 to 87.

I've been reading the posts in the site for a couple of weeks now and I'm impressed with its quality as well as the professionalism of the posts. I hope to re-connect with old friends, meet some new ones and learn from all of you.

Thanks for the opportunity to join you.

Greetings,

I appreciate the opportunity to be a guest in your neighborhood, sirs. Many thanks. I have spent a great amount of time researching Special Forces as a whole, hoping to one day join your ranks myself. I anticipate being able to learn from, as well as, contribute in any way possible to this community.

With Respect,

Matt

I currently reside in Detroit, Mi .
Potential recruit for the army/18xray. Was supposed to leave 20081114, but im currently training with my brother and leaving in January. Found the site, couple of weeks ago and it didnt take long for me to figure out it would be beneficial to me as a potential recruit to join.
A tradition in the fam to serve. It's no greater honor than being a Soldier in the Military , better yet the ARMY. Look forward to learning from the men here who have paved the way .

Thank you for your service Gentlemen.

My name is Ryan. I am currently an undergrad at Northeastern University in Boston. I am interested in using this site to learn about the career path and considering a hiatus from college to serve my country as best I am capable.

I am a 35M DEP but because of the high standards, effectiveness, responsibility, brotherhood, as well as cultural awareness and involvement (I am an international affairs major with a focus on the Middle east and a minor in Arabic) are all factors that have pulled me towards SF. I do not plan to look past the 25m but feel that after some experience and hitting 4, I may consider putting in a packet and wish to use this site to continue to learn until then.

I plan to read more than post, posting with maturity when I do, and using this excellent resource to prepare myself to enter into the army, and learn from true professionals.

Hello,

My name is Mike and I thankyou for creating this website to help support your own community, as well as supply helpful information to others interested in joining SF, or who just want to show their support.

I am prior service Navy and served 8 yrs as a GSM (gas turbine tech). I served aboard USS Guam (LPH-9) before it decom'd, and USS Thomas S Gates (CG-51). I have been out of the service for 3 years now, but started missing military life within 6 months of discharging. I just started speaking with an Army recruiter this past Friday, and hope to be on my way to boot camp soon, or in my case I believe it will be the warrior transition course. I am going to try and get an 18x contract, even though I have been initially told I am past the max age limit to get it, im going to push to get one anyhow. I am only a few months into 30, so I will just have to see. My younger brother has just started the Q course this past monday, so I am rooting for him, even though I know he has it in him to complete his training.

That is a little bit on me, and from here I will just keep on reading and absorbing.

Thanks, Mike

Gentlemen,
I've been lurking around for about a year and finally registered about a week ago. I'd like to thank all of you for your contributions to this website. I will be attending SFAS in April and have found this site to be a wealth of knowledge. Thank you again and stay safe.

Intro

Hey fellas,

I thought I did this a few days ago, but I don't see it. Just in case...I'm Swank and I'm a team sergeant in A/1/19 in Washington. When I'm not doing that, I'm contracting as an 18D-type, managing Fenris Global.

Perused the members list. Good to see some brothers here I haven't seen in a while. Heretic, you better call me or I'm going to take your flask back. Currently seeing the sights/sites in cradle of civilization and fighting with deers and tricare over what my DoD status is. Pure joy.

Hello,

I recently joined PS but have been viewing the site for months, it has helped me in my civilian job as an intel guy for afsoc and hopefully in my military career.....if I'm accepted into a 20th Group slot. I'm looking to transfer from an AS-2 slot in the PAARNG hopefully to an AS-2 slot with Group. Thanks for running such a site.

Hey there,

Getting ready to sign a REP-63. Found the site from the Get Selected book. Just looking to learn as much as I can before I go. Grateful for all of your insights and experience. Thanks!

mike83 11-07-2008 22:22

I have been lurking for over six months, came about the website from " Get Selected". Am prior service, and was getting ready to start my 18 x contract in December. Some family issues came up and have to put things on hold. Looking at going into the DEP program in Jan, and start the pipeline Jan of next year. on the plus side, I'll be able to get another year of school in, and more time to prepare myself. Needs come before wants, and I just have to keep my head up and drive on.

I am an 11b, currently with the 502, wrapping up a deployment and looking forward to a steak and a beer.

My name is Robert, I am currently a full-time college student. I also work part-time as an EMT and I really enjoy the variety and atmosphere of the job. I have always felt a desire to become involved in the military and I am currently taking time to explore all my options. This site has been extremely helpful and I look forward to learning more and one day having the honor of serving my country.

My name is Chip. I have been lurking here sense 04. I find the site very informative especially the "be prepared" thread and others like it. I posted a few times back in 04 but felt a new introduction was in order before posting again.
I work in Marketing but my passion is Triathlon, Adventure Racing and recently practical pistol shooting. I will mostly lurk and take in the wealth of information on this site but if I have something worthy of contribution I will post if thats alright.

I'm one of the civilians who has been supporting Robin Sage (in my case, off and on for the last 20 years). Started out allowing my property to be used as G-base. Have done multitudes of role's over the years, been a G on many occasions, and now primarily operate as OpFor for several ODA's in 7 of Pineland's counties.
I'm a machinist/ tool and die maker by trade.

Hello, gentlemen

Hello gents, my name is Rick, I'm 28 and I have been in the Army (Guard and Reserve) for about 6 years now, MOS 11B currently assigned to C Trp 1-18th Cav, CAARNG. I have deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan, and have very very little experience working with SF. I came across this site by way of lightfighter.net and heard it was a good source of info, and some of you may know me from there. I work for the govt on the civvie side as an electronic tech. I look forward to learning a lot on here, particularly on the recon/sniper side as that pertains to my current assignment the most. Thanks guys!

Introduction of Self

Hi everyone. My name is Spencer. I have been the crazy, adventurous type my whole life. I've always done well in school but school wasn't enough. I needed something more out of life and knew that I had much more to give. As of 11/05 I am officially an 18X Recruit and leave for Ft. Benning 01/20. Ill be honest, i'm not a guy who always knew he wanted to become a SF soldier. Im studying biology currently and felt I must take my eagerness and commitment to serving others to where it matters most, in suffering countries. Where else but the Green Berets. I love all that they stand for and all the work they put forth to serve means beyond their own. I'm focusing on getting in peak shape which i must admit is quite hard to prepare for when you read about the training you all do. Anyways this is my introduction and and it is good to be apart of this.

Hello,
My name is Mike, I'm a former member of the Canadian Forces, currently in Law Enforcement, and back in the Army Reserves again (weapons tech).

Found this site while researching quality boots and have learned a few other things since then.
Pround to be a member here.

About Me

I'm just a regular 'ol 68W. I'm always looking for something new to learn or something old to review (i.e. understand it better). I am on my second deployment to Iraq, this time with TF ODIN, so there's not much for me to do right now but get better at what I do. I figure this is the best place to do it.

Hello from Bamberg Germany. Engineer currently assigned to the 173 ABCT. Waiting for the 29th of Nov to come around, going to 03-09 in DEC. I have been sitting behind the scenes, checking ouit this site. I've received about 97% of the answers to my questions from this site; my compliments to the owners, really well put together.

Hello everyone.

Name is Jeff, I just retired, I was in the Army for 25 years and in 10th Gp for 24 of them. I enjoyed every minute. But it was time for me to pass the torch. This is a very interesting site and I look forward to reading and participating in some threads.

Hello

Hello everybody. I stumbled into this site by accident. I served 6 years as an 11b in a MNARNG unit. During those six years I had the privilege of working with a SF team in Bosnia in 03-04 and did a 16 month stint Iraq where I occasionally was involved in operations with SOF among other things. I also met a member of a 2/19 E-7 type at the U.S. embassy in Iraq who peaked my interest in Special Forces (unfortunately I miss placed his business card) and encouraged me to look further into SF. I’ve been extremely impressed with the professionalism, technical and tactical proficiency of those SOF personnel that I’ve interacted with.
Since then I’ve been in college, but it feels like I’ve been missing a piece of the pie. I’m positive 2/19 will be getting a call or visit from me in the summer. Until then I’ll be lurking in the shadows listening and learning. Stay safe!!! Thomps
