It has been a year since we lost Colonel Moroney.

I think of him frequently and enjoy it when one of his older threads or posts pops back up again. He had a lot of wisdom to share.

RIP, Boss. Hope you have saved us a place on the other side.

Colonel Moroney passed a year ago today. I also think of him often and sorely miss him. Few individuals on this planet have had more of an impact on me than Colonel Moroney. It was an honor to have known you Sir.

RIP Colonel Moroney. I still read his guidance on this board and from his PMs, and I can still hear him telling me to enjoy time with my boys every chance I got.

For someone whom I never met face-to-face, he sure has made a huge impact on my life. I still miss him very much.

Had the fortune to stop by and pay respects to COL M this summer. He's resting in the shade of a nice tree, where no doubt squirrels and birds continue to provide endless animal entertainment.

Thanks for this post.
I would never have had anything in common with him except that we both grew up spending time in Northern woods. It still hurts to realize he is not here and I think of him often.
In our conversations he admonished me to NOT call him Sir or Col. but just Jack. When Ambush Master calls him Sir, that gives me pause. You guys ever here AM call anyone "Sir"? not me, ever.

As per the last line in your post TR, I fear he is not just saving us a place but he has set up my work shop with 100,000 years of orders to fill before the hard work starts.

Jack, your are deeply missed by many, myself included.

I drove by his mailbox in VT while on leave not too long before he passed. Was driving with the family on the way to do some hiking in the mountains when I passed it. Wasn't looking for it. Came upon it totally by accident. Stopped the car and put it in reverse and backed up to see the name on the mailbox again. Remember at the time saying to myself that I'd get in touch with him and pay him a visit next time I was in the AO visiting my folks who live not 20min away....

Sadly I never got the chance.

I share the same thoughts as TR. Granted I wasn't apart of this website when he was alive, as I've used the search button and browsed the various threads on the forums I've read a lot of his posts and the wisdom/insight they provide to a young guy like myself is astonishing.

RIP and Rest Easy Colonel. :(

After lurking and reading the material on this site, I am astounded by the amount of information, references, and depth of knowledge available here. I know that I haven't even gotten past the 'tip of the iceberg' yet... but, at times, I feel like I'm back in isolation again.

Having said that... I feel compelled to add my personal respects and thanks to Colonel Moroney as well…

Throughout my navigation of this website, following the various threads, attachments, and comments… I continually find myself reading comments and answers provided by Colonel Moroney's posts…

Although I didn’t personally meet, or know him, I ‘feel’ a connection to him through his legacy that he has left here… reading the very knowledgeable, concise, well-written, down-to-earth answers, and comments, that puts things into the right perspective, whether it be just a ‘nudge’ or a ‘hard kick’ as needed.

Rest in Peace, Sir. Thank you for the legacy that you have left here… I, too, will miss your wisdom and guidance.

Like you, I never had the opportunity to personally meet the gentleman. When I see his name, my mind is filled with a fond admiration from reading his posts. Men like him is a like a beacon for others to follow.

As always with the best of memories of a truly great warrior and man. Rest In Peace, until we can all meet again.

SECTION 10 SITE 10506ALH

I am not sure what "10506ALH" means but Section 10 is easily findable. I thought I would stop by after the service for Col Howard. I did not know Col Howard but it is a good opportunity for me to stop by and see Col Moroney.

It's right by the road (first row) in Section 10. It is on the branch road, a nice walk from the entrance center. I visited it last year about this time.

the 10 means section 10 then the headstone number is 506 see below for example. NO idea what the ALH means.

Tatonka316 and I were talking just today about this coming weekend, the Ft. Bragg memorial serivce for Col Bob Howard and then Arlington.

We both came to the conclusion, that Col Howard is probably laughing his A** off watching all of us fingure out how to proceed given the amount of snow at Arlington, VA.

My time on this site while Col Moroney was still with us was too short. I think this has been said before, but I think there is probably a book in his many (though too few, really) posts on here. A book that would be of value to SF troops, and especially, SF officers.

Went by this morning to finally pay my respects. I guess it is only fitting and right that I should have to wade through snow in low quarters to see him. He has a nice place under an oak tree. I am sure the birds and squirrels come to see him.
