Back during the SFTG days - we uesed to raz the legs as we marched to class - finally, a directive came down that said we couldn't call the legs, legs anymore. It was forbidden - seems we pissed off some leg COL who complaind to Fast Eddy.
So from that day on, every time our formation saw a jucy leg standing on the sidewalk or trung to cross the street - somebody in the group would yell "What's the best part of a Chicken" Then in unison at the top of our voices, we all yelled out: "The Leg." A few othrers that come to mind: "sing him a Hymn" (do yo know the tag line?) And this one - always a good one - I've seen it pulled as a bunch of SF were walking down the street, or marching, or standing in a formation. Seen it pulled in a Duce 'n Half, and while the stick was hooked up and less than a minute out. Somebody would yell out: "If ya can't tap dance, you're a queer!" afer that, the feet would fly! But my favorite one of all - and I first heard it on a sunny afternoon on the ski slopes near Bertchesgadden, as me and my team sat on some benches, sucking on a beer and getting some sun: "Wonder what the poor people are doing today?" For all of the above, you probably just had to be there. |
Don't know how many times, my old Team Sergeant on 231 would look over at our Junior Engineer and say:
"Boom Boom - Get your head out of your 3rd point of contact!" Wana guess why he called him Boom Boom? Free prize if you can guess this Team Daddy's Name (initials). |

Just remembered another form my favorite (ODA 231 Team Daddy). He was usually using this line on Boom Boom too.
"Son - if your going to Hoot with the Owls, ya better be prepared to soar with the eagles." He had hundreds of these! Still no guess as to who he is? Here are some hints: When I first met him, he was an E6 Ops Sergeant, Working for Cpt Billy Joe at D-Company, SFTG. He had us "duck walking" up and down the hill behind the company because we were not paying attention to his instructions - Like I said, That was the first time I met him. The second time I met him, He was an E8 and he was hanging out at the Club in Sculthorpe (UK) and he and his friend, One Eyed Reily, were throwing down shots of Crown Royale - at 25 cents a shot. I was an E5. The third time I saw him - I was a SSG and I walked into 231 - there he was - my new Team Seargent. He looked at me and said - welcome aboard - the coffee is over there in the corner - get yourself a cup." It took a long time, but I finally got on par with him - he turned out to be the Best Team Sergeant I ever had. |

Pain is temporary,
Glory is forever, and chicks dig scars. Had a Team Sergeant who used to say, "if you don't have anything to do, then don't do it here." That team was a mountain team and that same Team Sergeant had some advice if you were climbing and you thought that you were going to fall or if your fear of heights was starting to win. He said just close your eyes and repeat the following, "I am so F*****d, I am so F*****d, I am so F*****d." It was remarkably unhelpful but entertaining none-the -less. Almost forgot, "If you only leave yourself five minutes to pack then it only takes five minutes to pack." SFC W |
