Hey RL does USC have any spare QB's? I am not sure what else PSU's defense was supposed to do to the number one team in the nation? Gonna be a long year in unhappy valley. :(

JMI 09-24-2006 08:37

That just might have kept us in the BCS with that win. Great comeback!

And the Buckeyes looked sluggish against PSU - I think it was because PSU is just a good football team.

Did y'all catch the USC game tonight? Less than four minutes to go, down 7 against #2 Auburn, on fourth and long Spurrier calls a timeout. The 'ol Ball Coach didn't have a clipboard or play sheet. He just pointed to one guy and said you go this way, pointed to another guy and said you go that way, like they were on a playground or something. They ran the play and got a first down. He didn't do much in DC, but that man is one heck of a college football coach. Great ending - tight end dropped a touchdown pass in the end zone, but Gamecocks had some other shots at tying the game.

I was glad to see how well WSU stayed with USC (Trojans) last Saturday. Lead at halftime and even ended with more total yards, passing yards, first downs and a positive turnover ratio :lifter ...but of course lost on the scoreboard. :boohoo
I would have loved to have seen it, but it was not carried in my market.

Returning now from business trip in Vegas. Managed to place the following bets while here:

USC -20.5
Arizona +12
Stanford +32

:D

Two squeakers in a row against subpar teams. I am starting to become concerned. :munchin

I have been watching Ohio State play this year and they could be blowing teams out more than they have. Jim Tressel is such a class coach that he pulls his starters much earlier than other coaches. Michigan is going to be a great game.

If USC continues to struggle, the Notre Dame game is going to be tough for them.

Good year so far. Auburn, Notre Dame, Texas, and now Florida are all #2 teams who have lost to underdog opponents. Michigan and Notre Dame are teams that could upset a few weeks from now.

That game would be tough no matter what. Same is true of UCLA -- records don't matter, it's always a game you can lose.

We have very tough games against Oregon and Cal left also. I definitely am concerned. But it is a young team and we'll see how they develop.

Just a note from one college football nut to several others:

Normally a benign story until you read this line: "For the first time, the BCS title game will be played about a week after the four major bowls - the Rose, Orange, Fiesta and Sugar."

So we can't have a playoff system because it's tough on the kid's (despite 1-A Football being the ONLY sport in the NCAA without a playoff) for winterim-but we'll add a twelfth game this year....then we'll extend the season a week beyond Jan 1.

I give up.
I guess I'll die before I can see a true champion crowned on the field of play.

Adrian Peterson is out for the season with a broken collarbone. Looks like the Sooners' luck is going down hill this season. It's a shame too, he was 150 yards from the school record and could have done it the next game.

College Football

Go Bucks!! I am a diehard tOSU Buckeye fan and things look good. I am getting fired up for an epic clash with Michigan at the end of the season.

JMI 10-28-2006 20:10

Well, another team in the top 5 is upset this season, this time the USC Trojans, and they still have some tough games left.

Circle 11/18 on the calander - Ohio State vs. Michigan.

I can hear Woody Hayes now: "What do you mean the LOSER goes to the Rose Bowl?"

Roguish Lawyer 10-29-2006 09:05

Absent some rapid growth, USC is going to lose again before bowl time. Very tough schedule through season end.

Bill Harsey 10-29-2006 09:52

USC didn't just lose, they got beat by an Oregon team!

Go Oregon State!
