Gentlemen,

I apologize if my introduction post came off as me being an arrogant officer. I should have chosen better word's to specifically convey my point. I am here on this forum to learn from those that have had the time and experience in a profession that I wish to hopefully one day become a part of.

I did not mention the schools I have attended in my initial post because I didn't think that it mattered. I think that LONGWIRE hit the nail right on that head and irregardless of how many schools or badges you have they don't necessarily make you a good leader or competent soldier. These are precisely the two things I am striving for in my military career, and why I wanted to join this forum. I want to be a good leader and competent soldier and could care less how many badges I have.

For LONGWIRE and SNAQUEBITE I have been lucky and blessed enough to have attended Ranger, Airborne, RSLC, and Pathfinder as a junior officer. As mentioned above I meant nothing by my previous post for coming off as an arrogant officer. I consider myself an ambitious person and want to better myself every opportunity I have in order to hopefully one day uphold the high standards that an SF officer should posses.

Thank you for your time and I hope that I was able to clarify the situation.

Nismo 11-08-2007 04:14

My name is Abraham,
I'm 23 years of age and a PFC 92G in the U.S. Army. I know "Dirty Cook", but these along with two other MOS were available to me due to the fact that I am a Resident to the U.S. so security reasons I was only given three options. Since I like to cook then I chose this MOS.
My wife used to be in the Army and was stationed at Ft. Bragg in 05 and that’s when I first heard of Green Berets. I went to the gym off Longstreet and then hit up the track after I was finished. There were two guys running on the track when I got there. Long hair, in good shape and they were jogging at speeds that some would consider sprinting. I told my wife about it when she got off work and she replied with simply this, "They were probably Special Forces". Those words were had sank into me like nothing I had ever heard before. After that I would stop anyone with the Special Forces Tab and ask them questions about school. The one thing that they all had in common and that I really admired was that they were all down to earth and polite people. Now that I am in the Army I notice that it’s hard to find people like that. About a month ago there was a PV2 calling our Supply Sergeant a Fobbit cause he didn't go on convoys. Our Supply Sergeant just looked at him and smiled. What the PV2 didn't know that he has three deployments and was deployed with all this kicked off. Everyone that I come across feels like a badass having done nothing worth mentioning. The guys from Special Forces were modest and knew that they didn't have to talk the talk because they walked the walk one a daily basis.
On another occasion, my wife and I went to Pets Mart and I noticed a Maroon Beret in a shopping cart that was left behind. The flash was the Special Forces. I asked my wife what it meant and she told me, "Liberate the Oppressed". I'm not going to lie, that really hit me like a ton of bricks. I took it off the beret and kept it and still have it till this day. Well now that I'm in the Military I know that becoming a Green Beret is a gruesome task but not impossible. That’s why I am here to get as much info as I can before I get my citizenship and enter my packet.

Hello all,

My name is Nick and I am currently a freshman in college, enrolled in Army ROTC. I originally wanted to enlist right out of high school, but my parents would not sign the necessary paperwork, so I decided to join an ROTC program until I figure out what I would like to do. Recently I have been looking more into the 18x enlistment option, and so far this forum has been a great resource of information. Even if I decide not to enlist, and instead go through ROTC for a commission, I one day hope to be a part of SF as an officer.

KiloNovember out.

Welcome all.

KiloNovember,

I had the same problem at 17 with my parents not wanting to sign the necessary paperwork, a little waterboarding and a few hours later, they signed.;)

Just kidding.;)

College is always a good idea before or after a military career.

Good afternoon Gent's.
My name is Joshua and I am currently serving in the National Guard as an 11B. I've got about two years of school until I get my B.S., and then I'll be going to the Active side of the house specifically to become a Special Forces soldier (enlisted). I've been lurking this site for a while, and have gotten some great information.

On the civilian side I like beer, cars, and women; not neccesarily in that order. I've taken up skydiving as my new hobby, but it's getting pretty expensive very quickly so I'm putting it on the back burner for SCUBA diving. I enjoy running and have ran in a few half-marathons for fun. I also plan on becoming a luthier for a hobby, and I love collecting guitars.

Thanks for having me.

Futureidiot384 11-08-2007 17:48

Hello

My name is Andrew and I am very interested in Special Forces but will try to mostly read instead of post since am not 18 or older yet. I plan on becoming either an 18B as an enlisted or 18A if i join the army as an officer.

Hello everyone, and thank you Mr. Ambush for the help in posting.

My name is Scott and I've worked at Randall Knives for almost 25 years now.

I can't begin to tell how proud we are at RMK to provide knives for the military personnel and to receive such an overwhelming response.

I've been invited by Mr. Harsey and look forward to meeting new friends here on this forum.

Scott,

Welcome aboard. I'm sure that Mr. Bill informed you about our House!!

I have probably met you at either Shot or Blade over the past 2-3 years.

If not, then I look forward to meeting you at Shot '08.

As TR said, we thank you folks for your support of the SF community.

Take care.

Welcome aboard Scott!
Thanks for all you folks do at Randall Knives.
Please do not hesitate to post some pics of what you are doing, if you want.
I'd like to try and do some justice to the great history of Randall Knives.

Yes I told Scott this is a forum with an unusually high degree of decorum and professionalism, just like where he works.

Gentleman,
I have been a member of this site for a couple of months now and am grateful for the opportunity to learn from the members on this site. I am currently in PhaseIII (18e course). Been serving for 9 years now. I have had the honor of serving as a commo support guy for 2 SF Groups (2/5th and GSC 1st). I am looking forward to learning more from the members of this site and to contribute once it seems I have earned the right. Ultimately, I look forward to completing my training and joining the ranks.

Thanks

Hi I would prefer not to use my name and I am currently in college at Penn State. I am not in the U.S. Army yet. I would like to go in for the Airborne then the Rangers and finally the SF. I will post when I am enlisted and shipping out. I am a college student and I realize that the U.S. Army is a commitment. Thank you.

Hello to all,

I recently discovered this site and have found it to be both informative and professionally operated. I have worked in the criminal justice system for the past 11 years, and beyond that, there is not that much worth mentioning. My compliments to the administrators of this site....given some of the other forums I have seen, it is nice to see one in which the members and guests are not constantly flaming each other, but instead are engaging in informative dialogue. This is as intelligent as I can sound without giving myself a headache.

Hi guys.

My names Mike, I'm a 28 year old soldier with the New Zealand Army.
I cant lay any claims to greatness, just a run of the mill Kiwi grunt.

Hoping to learn some useful tricks from those who have BTDT to improve my own skills and help me be a better soldier.

Thanks for providing this site.

Clavicula_Nox 11-14-2007 10:23

I am a 22 year old prior active duty Army soldier. I was stationed at Ft. Bragg for the duration of my time and have served in the 514th Signal Company (Airborne) and the 128th Detachment, USASOC (Airborne). I signed up here because I saw the thread about Capt Tiffner, whom I do not know, but my uncle was his driver during the incident that took his life (my uncle survived, but was wounded).

I'm probably going to re-enlist because I hate civilian life, but we'll see.

Hello, first and foremost I just want to say I have the utmost envy and respect for every one of you fine men.

Now, a bit about myself. Names Travis. I'm 19, young in age but I'd like to think my mental state of being is a few years surpassed. I believe, there is a small population of the true, "Those who seek justice are those who are ultimately satisfied". That rare breed of men and women alike that will take every risk, along with every precaution necessary to fulfill an ideal. Those are who I would like to learn from and learn with.

I have been seriously considering enlisting but there are still a few things I have yet to find in the pages of texts. As a mental and physical being I realize the need to be honed and in control of both realms. Special Forces from what I have read and understand will push my abilities in both to limits I have not even fully realized.

The years of turbulence are upon us and I for one do not want to be unprepared when the time comes to choose.

Hello everyone,

I ran across this site a little while ago and finally decided to register. I entered as an 18X and am currently in the SFQC training to become an 18E. Hopefully I'll be going to 10th SFG with Arabic as my language. Sadly, I had to give up going to Sharky's in exchange for Rosetta Stone lessons every night. I know its a long, long way off, but I'd someday like to try for CIA Special Activities Staff or Green. I most likely won't post too much; however, I appreciate all the advice and words of wisdom from all of the experienced and knowledgeable members of the board.

Thanks.

Hello all,

My name is Rich. I try not to post my full name in publicly viewable sites, but if it's desired I would make an exception for this one. I've had an account on this board for sometime, but I've never felt the need to post as I don't have anything to add to most of the conversations. That said, I would like to thank those of you who have shared your knowledge. I've certainly enjoyed the good information and good discussions I've read so far.

Chris:

You need to read ALL of the stickies and intros, and stop spamming the board with these requests for info. You might want to review your OPSEC and PERSEC briefings while you are at it.

We don't know you, and we would not put info about an SF soldier out via the net if we did.

Best of luck.
