Why don’t we reduce our Group requirements? Cut out a team in every company and fill up the ranks again.

What's old is new again. We "ghosted" the -6 teams once before. It was a nutroll trying to get them outfitted again when they were brought back online. All the team gear was "elsewhere".

Great points.
What about pre-SCUBA?

IMO opinion there is a world of difference between additional skills such as scuba.....at the end of the day what makes a Green Beret and what he does stays the same the mission and the aspects don't change the mountaineering, scuba, MFF, sniper, ranger, sapper etc....are additional skills that only compliment the mission are additions but not critical to UW what direct, infiltration skills we have and do will not matter without the right personality and character traits to execute the by, with and through mission....there are great Force Recon Marines, LRS, Rangers with every advanced skill we have but no personality or inherent ability to work in that situation....the intensity of UW is a different animal who thinks way beyond kinetic.....the rest are skills that can be taught SFAS is a test looking for specific personalities, resilience, ruggedness, intelligence, team players with certain traits that make them good fits for our mission.......the length of the course exposes negative and positive traits while teaching skills that too bad the command chooses to ignore this critical continuing assessment of our guys.

And pre- SFAS preparation circumvents the true attrition and inhibits the process of what we select for.....
Again in the past candidates had to have there reigns pulled and only required guidance today the course is required to lead and pull sometimes reluctant studs....

That's good stuff....I think that if the Q had been left alone it would have been fine.....with quality candidates....you want to be a Green Beret? here's your class date phase 1-2-3 then language and today the arbitrary SERE that seems to not be required for select individuals.....you see today the other agencies are now having a say in what we can and cannot do......how much training we have, certifications, clearance levels etc.....if we scale the long as hell training back we shut ourselves out of many missions....they determine the school and training requirements to do any training beyond basic or intel or you name it though not entirely of their own volition they had help in knowing what we needed no doubt the OGA's were guided on certain requirements in the interest of more money or schools....more commands, GS and contractor jobs for all players

I agree with SF BHT. I have to ask though, what does this program cost SWC in terms of manpower and budget? Is it even worth extending an already long course by adding more requirements on the front end? Any brothers here able to educate us on the pro's of "Pre Hazing"?

It cost enough and manpower to have to Outsource additional assistance from other committees...
