I give any man his due for being willing to try. If he's already engaged a recruiter and also earned NCO rank in another service, I'll take him at his word that he's serious about the task at hand. Right now, his bayonet range target is enlisting 18X & possibly retaining that already earned military pay grade. The 25 meter target (SFAS) comes after that.

Do the best you can... at every stage of the endeavor.

It has been forever since I heard the term. It's amazing how things bring memories to your prefrontal cortex.

During the R & R to RVN, there once was a shortage of NCOs. Then the bright idea was put forward, "we make officers in 90 days, let's make NCOs in 90 days." Upon graduation they were promoted to E5 and immediately sent to their R & R to the RVN. It made for some interesting times.

I never thought I would hear that phrase. It evokes a period eons ago. To a quieter more peaceful time. Compared to the optempo of today, it was truly and R & R. Don't any of you take the "Well back in the day" sh*t. YOU are the and brightest, strongest, be4st educated the Regiment has ever been fielded. My beret is off to you all.
